Enhancing the game. Where to look, and how to shop.

The Bottom Line You don't always need to spend money to enhance your game--there are many ways--some right under your nose, and some even cheaper than buying an enhancer. Read Below!

We all know there are those of us, whom for lack of a better term, cheat "or like to enhance the game (mainly for our good)" to make the game better. Now, sometimes this is an extremely bad thing and can make any game lose its novelty completely. Yet, other times it can be a good thing...say for example you already beat the game and wanted to have some more fun with it.

In either case, its good to know: what to buy, where to buy it, and if its worth it. Here's my weeks worth of extensive research--partially condensed.

Let me count the ways...
There is more than one way to enhance your game, and a lot of them don't necessarily require that you pay money. Though, depending on what you want, it just might.

First, the easiest way is to get some codes that go for the game--ones that don't require a device to use them--just the game. These aren't necessarily "sure-fire" as most games don't always have a cheat interface. These can be found almost anywhere, and the prices range from zero to $1.95/min.
*Visit webpages that offer free information--things like 'Tips and Tricks', 'Walkthrough', 'Cheats and Codes'-- are the things you want to look for. (Webpages to visit listed below in "Webs of Choice".)

*Buy a game guide. These are usually good, and contain much-valued tips and tricks--along with cheat codes in the back for you to use when you get desperate. They are usually priced anywhere from $10.00 to $25.00, and you can always sell them when you are done with them.

*The traditional phone line for pay (Not those ones!! Get your minds out of the gutter!!). There are so many of these, it's not even funny. Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc., they all have phone lines for their games. Granted, it's nice to talk to a real person about a gaming problem, but the price isn't always worth it. People that use these lines end up paying anywhere from $.95/min to $1.95/min--and you are usually on the line for at least 5 to 10 minutes. You end up paying a total anywhere from $4.75 to $20.00--way to much, just to find something out for a game.(See "Phunky Phones" below for a list.)

*The very long wait; send your question to a magazine that has a "gamers corner/tips" and hope it gets published. This is actually cheap, but there is no guarantee that your question will be answer--and at anytime soon. There are usually hundred of other people that are sending their material to the same office hoping for the same thing. (See "Masterful Magazines" below for a list)

Finally, the next easiest way to enhance your game--these require a device, and access to the internet. These are sure-fire b/c they usually work well and most games don't have a cheat interface programmed into them--this one lets you do that.
* Gamesharks, and the works. There's at least one of these for every system. They are usually fairly priced--if not, look at eBay--and work well. These are pretty easy to use and allow you to add the codes you want to change the game/make everything right for you. They come programmed with a lot of codes for almost every game that has been released by that specific company. Though, you will more than likely have to look at a website to find some decent codes that actually do what you want.

What do I recommend?
Well, I am not going to say I don't recommend you cheat--but I don't advocate it. It can be good and bad, as I stated above. I personally have cheated before, sometimes it makes the game more fun, other times it horrible.

As far as which of the choices above I recommend them in the following order:
1)Webpages
2)Gamesharks, etc.
3)Game Guides
4)Mail in questions
5)Phonelines

Webpages usually have everything--and you need them for a Gameshark or else it'd be number one.
Gamesharks allow you to get everything you need--easy to use.
Game Guides are somewhat expensive and aren't always direct when answering your questions.
Mail-in Questions take forever, but they are cheap, there is always that possibility that your question might not even get asked or picked up.
Finally, Phone lines--they are a waste of money, especially when you can find everything you want or could need on the internet.

What you really want...
Now that I have listed the choices for you, you can easily decide what you want. If it's anything else but the Gameshark--then you don't have to read this, just skip to the next section.

As far as Gameshark (and other devices) is concerned, all you have to do is check out the specs by visiting an Opinion site--like this. Seeing which one suites your taste (or your system), then before you go out to buy it at Wal-Mart look online. Visit the sites I list below, they usually have people willing to get rid of them at a decent price. (See "Web of Choice" below.) If you can't find one there, then go to Wal-Mart and buy it.

Where to get it...
What is listed below tells you where to go to get everything you need as far as enhancing your games and such.

Web of Choice
These are sites that offer both free info, and where you can buy the product(s).

GameFAQs(www.gamefaqs.com)
One of my favorites, this site has everything you need. It has just about every game, on every system, there for you to grab and nab all that you need. Walkthroughs, Tips and Tricks, Cheats, and Message Boards all for a single game! The cheat section has codes for Gameshark and usually cheats for the game--if it doesn't require a Gameshark.

IGN Gamesages(codes.ign.com)
An amazing site with Tips and Tricks, and a cheat section. It has almost every game--but not as wide a selection as GameFAQs. Still very good.

Game Software Code Creators Club(http://www.cmgsccc.com/index2.shtml)
This site is full of cheat codes design specifically for the Gameshark. I highly recommend it if it's the only thing you have. It's the only decent site with the most Gameshark codes I have ever seen.

Gameshark (www.gameshark.com)
The company has it's own page. These codes usually are certified to work, where as the link above cannot not always guarantee the codes work--though most of them do.

Sites to BUY from

SwitcHouse (www.switchouse.com)
This is a great place to get games and devices--they are usually used, but in great condition. You can buy, sell, or possibly trade for one at this site. Service is free, unless you want to sell something (kind of like a mini-eBay). Trading is free on the site, you exchange items. It's simple to use, and they have just about everything you could be looking for.

eBay (www.eBay.com)
Everyone's favorite, or not. This site is like Switchouse--only without the trade feature. Still, you can usually get items brand new here for a decent price.

My Simon (www.mysimon.com)
It's not really a place you can buy from, more of a search engine. Usually he finds good deals--but I recommend the above two more, simply b/c they are more known and usually have strict measures about the way things go.

Phunky Phones
These are those phone lines I was talking about earlier, yeh, I actually went to bat for you all! ^_^

Nintendo($1.50 USA, $2.00 CAN)per min.
1-900-288-0707

(I’ll Update these frequently, for now that’s all I have) Sorry! ^_^

Masterful Magazines
These are the magazines I recommend you use to look through for help on making your games better for you. (Prices are close to near accurate)

Nintendo Power; $4.95 USA-$5.95 CAN

Expert Gamer; $7.95 USA-$8.95 CAN

Gamer Pro; $6.95 USA-$7.95 CAN

Playstation; $6.95 USA-$7.95 CAN

Tips and Tricks; $6.95 USA-7.95 CAN

Electric Gaming Monthly; $4.95 USA-$5.95 CAN

To enhance or not to enhance
That is the question. And since it is, you have a choice! You can pick from the many ways I listed above. These are by far the best ways to enhance your games. If you don’t cheat, that’s fine too, but those websites aren’t complete cheat sites (they aren’t the prime evil of the world -.-). Some of them have walkthroughs in case you get stuck. Nice. Even more so, if you ever feel lost in between, you know you can come to this epinion and find your way to either side. I hope the information I provided above suites you all well enough. It works for me. I will be updating the phone number eventually. For now, though, sit back and enjoy.

Hope I helped! ^_^
