Lost the manual - how do you set the stride length?

Thanks -

Anybody know where I can find the manual online?

Nice review on the pedometer. I was really bummed about Sportbrain going under, as I loved my Sportbrain, and it was a real exercise motivator.

Your review of this pedometer has inspired me to order one of these little gadgets, as I need SOMETHING to motivate me.

Thanks for the information!

doh! I too just jumped on the 10,000 steps bandwagon and came back to your review to check out both devices. Guess I should head over to the Oshman's website.

*sigh*

PS - I miss your reviews...you just know you want to write about Les Poisson Japonais, right?

They Shoot Horses Don't They? (Reply to this comment)

My Darling Tanster:

If I ever walk 999.99 miles - simply put me out of my misery. My feet will be nubs and my poor body so frail that I would need intravenous Wonton Soup (my drug of choice.)

The HJ-104 looks like the perfect choice for Equal Half and me. Sure, I know how far the community center, country club and gate house are from our home but this would be a great incentive to actually do something more than hike to the usual haunts.

Fabulous review and I apologize for taking so long to get here. You know, life gets in the way of Epinionating... really... honest!

Love always,
Helen

SportBrain is gone! (Reply to this comment)
by marcman
Wow, just found this on the SportBrain web site.

SportBrain, Inc. is out of business.

We are very sorry to inform you that SportBrain, Inc. was not able to obtain new funding and has shut down its operations. SportBrain has made an Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors to Sherwood Partners, Inc.

Sherwood is working to sell the assets of SportBrain. It is possible that a buyer of the SportBrain technology will offer service to former SportBrain customers. Please check back at this site from time to time if you are interested in receiving service from a new owner of the SportBrain technology.

Instead of a SportBrain, you'll have to get a pedometer or a heart rate monitor. Personally, I like the Polar M52.

I'll bet that if you can get "pedometers" added to Epinions as a topic and this specific model listed, Tanster would be happy to delete her Epinion and move it to the 'proper' place.

I don't have a problem with a posting like this when there is no specific category with the product listed. Epinions does not list every product and when it's not listed, we are often told that no more new product requests will be taken because they are backlogged. So what do we do? Just forget it?

I think you're overly critical to rate it as "not helpful." If you don't believe it should be here, go ahead and post your comment and skip the rating of the review. To rate it as you did would indicate that it is not well written or broke some other serious rule.

The reason for my rating... (Reply to this comment)

This is a product review under an editorial category.

For this topic Epinions asked "How should I choose Exercise Equipment?"

Epinions has asked us to keep our articles on topic.

Hi Ben,

Yes, SportBrain is awesome, and it has a fanatical user base. We are all quite bummed that the company may shut its doors soon. :(

If it does make a recovery, though, I definitely recommend you check it out!

Take care,
:) tanster

wow. this sportbrain thing is awesome. i am a numbers freak. I check the hits on my epinions several times a day, as well as the number of hits to my website. as well as for most things I do.

I just spent the last 15 minutes reading at the http://www.sportbrain.com site. This sportbrain thing I would buy in an instant if it weren't so expensive, and even then, I would buy it, if you hadn't mentioned that it might go out of business any day now. oh well...

maybe i'll buy it anyway, but at $100, it's a pretty big risk if the company goes under.

I never went the pedometer route because I'm worried about inaccuracies resulting from inputting the stride length, especially since I do some walking and some running and the stride length would differ I'm sure.

What I use and what you might consider also perhaps is a heart rate monitor. I have a Polar M52 (www.polarusa.com or read my epinion) which I'm quite happy with.
