I am a klutz.
Chances are when Im not tripping over something, falling off a ladder or skinning some part of my body - then Im breaking something around the house. Instant Krazy Glue is something that Ive always had around, usually found at the back of the junk drawer hiding when I need it most. Its something that can be used to fix almost anything and everything around the house - toys, air conditioning vents, buttons that fall off the VCR, replacing loose tiles on the bathroom floor and even to fix the rubber on the sides of my boots. Common sense should tell you not to use this on clothing [unless its for a costume and you plan to throw it away], carpeting, pets, humans [hehehe] or anything that is going to come in contact with food [plates, dishes, glasses etc]. You have to read the information on the package before you use this or you might just find yourself in a very sticky situation.
Borden Elmer's New Formula Instant Krazy Glue, 2 Grams
The one thing that I love about this version of Instant Krazy Glue is that it comes packaged in a small storage tube so if the inner tube isnt completely sealed it wont leak all over everything. Another perk to the outer tube is that if any glue is on the inner tube, it will dry without sticking to the inside of the tube. This is extremely easy to use but if you have never worked with it before make sure that you take your time and dont go crazy [or would that be krazy] with it. All you need to do is prick the tube with the provided built in needle to open the Krazy Glue tube, apply a small amount to what ever it is you are working with and give it some time to dry. While the manufacturers say that this is instant that isnt the case if you are applying a thick glob of it or press out too much. I had to repair one of the vents on the inside of the air conditioner and it took the better part of a half hour for it to completely dry because I had to apply a lot to it so it would fill in the slot. Doing this made the vent stationary so I had to make sure that when it started drying that I moved the vent to face right so the cold air would hit the middle of the room.
Normally I use a special type of glue for Lego sets; most of the time these are the large or oversized models that arent going to be taken apart [Statue of Liberty, Lego Boy etc]. When a piece comes loose or falls off, Instant Krazy Glue is what I use to reattach it. This can be used on most types of plastic but not all types; sometimes this will warp the plastic or bleed the colors so if you are working with something that you really value, test this out on an inconspicuous spot to see if it is going to ruin it or not. Ive used this to repair splintered wood work on window frames, handles on coffee mugs [never anything that comes in contact with anything that is near food or foodstuffs], to fix Christmas ornaments, ceramic tiles on my address plate on the front of the house, to attach buttons to costumes and to fix loose pieces of wallpaper.
Safety Warnings
When you read the label it says that it bonds skin instantly - that is not a joke or an exaggeration. Take it from someone that has had fingers glued together as well as a coffee mug attached to her hand for the better part of two hours - this stuff is something that you need to be careful with. You can remove the Instant Krazy Glue with nail polish remover or soak it in warm soapy water to loosen the bond. The warm soap approach takes a lot longer and is pretty frustrating. I would refrain from using this on eyeglasses or sunglasses unless you are going to let it dry completely - at least a half hour - before using. A half hour might seem like a long time for a product that says instant on the label but its better to be paranoid and safe than to be sorry. If this comes into contact with your eyes or mouth you must seek medical attention. Using nail polish remover or warm soapy water isnt an option. If you need any assistance with this product, please call 1-800-228-5635 and ask for extension 022. No children should be allowed to use this under any circumstances and if you apply this to a toy make sure that it is completely dry before you allow them to play with it.
And The Prize For Most Bizarre Use For Krazy Glue....
I wont reveal names nor will I go into elaborate detail ... consider this one of the fairy tales that you wont read in any kids book ... but it did happen. A long time ago there was a young couple, madly and deeply in love but when the prince went to the town to have a few pints of ale with his mates hed come home in a wicked mood. One fateful evening he struck his princess with such force that she was left with a bruised face and a loose tooth. Knowing that the situation would only worsen over time she decided to take matters into her own hands. She purchased a tube of Krazy Glue and decided to teach the prince a lesson that he wouldnt soon forget. When he woke up the following morning and wanted a romp she gleefully obliged but first she insisted that he close his eyes and lay back on the bed. Thats when she applied several thick lines of Krazy Glue to his most private of areas and slapped it against his stomach. The prince was unaware of this until he saw the princess standing at the foot of the bed, laughing with several suitcases by her side.
The Bottom Line
Instant Krazy Glue is something that every household should have but you have to make sure that it is used properly and kept away from children of all ages. Ive used this on a ton of different things and the only time I had any major problems with it is when I didnt give it enough time to dry completely and ended up with it on my fingers. But thats not the problem of the product, just my own stupidity and impatience. There are several different versions of Krazy Glue on the market so if this one doesnt seem like it is the best pick for your needs you can go with the original or the gel version. Instant Krazy Glue is a staple in this house but it is something that none of the kids are allowed to even touch let alone use. This can be a real lift saver when something breaks and you need to fix it fast but be sure to take your time when using it or you might find yourself stuck to something ... Ive done it more than a few times and no matter how many times it happens and how many times I swear Ill never let it happen again .. it always does.
As always, thanks for the read!
