Don't think I didn't read your "PRO Apple" reviews iBen, because thats ALL you write about. Let me see, her's a list of the Apple stuff you own:
1)iBook SE,
2)imac Indegos,
1)iMac Blue dalmation.,
1)G4 Cube.
1)15 GB iPod,
1)Power Book G4,
1)Apple iDisk.
1)Apple Pro Mouse,
YEA LIKE YOU OWN ALL OF THAT?
Apple's lucky to have you as an iSponsor, iBen. With you, everything is iGreat and iGood, but what about the iBad in the company? Your "PRO Apple" reviews are getting old. You suck, and Apple sucks too.
You write the same "PRO APPLE" pitch that comp USA gives me when I walk into the store. You also wrote reviews on "Mac vs PC" and "Choosing a Laptop as a Desktop Replacement". It's like hey, What do you know about Apple, when you have NOTHING to compare it too.
YES Apple rules in creative applications: You know it, I know it, we all know it- We've been hearing it for years, it's common knowledge! But your so "PRO Apple" that it's CrAzY.
Maybe you got lucky, but I didn't, and Apple treated me like crap. And the way YOU critisied my reviews, called me a liar, and basically shined Apple's shoes, just makes me wonder: "Who are you writing for?...Yourself, or Apple?"
I don't hate Apple, I'm an Apple user!... I-Ben!

Thank you for your comment, vein.
Hey I'm a techie kind of guy too, and you'd be surprised how the Mac is a great platform for that kind of stuff.
Why... in Mac OS X, there is a full blown version of BSD UNIX and the Mach Kernel running underneath the fluffy user interface. It provides preemptive multitasking and memory managment... why... I can even bring up a Terminal command prompt and use regular UNIX text commands to navigate and modify files on my computer.
Mac isn't just for newbies anymore! Techies can love the Mac too!

Ah... That's great to hear, kachaturian.
Transitioning from PC to Mac really shouldn't be very difficult.
The user interface follows basically all the same rules as WIndows... you even have a right click if you buy a mouse with multiple buttons, or you can activate the context menu on the current mouse by CTRL-clicking.
If you have any USB hardware like printers, scanners, and even USB mice, keyboards, and game pads, they'd all work easily with a new Mac.
Software-wise, the transition will take you longer. Most of the applications you use regularily on the PC are available on the Mac as well. Current versions of Microsoft Office, Macromedia Dreamweaver, and most every other productivity app, such as Quicken, are available on the Mac as well, but you will have to buy them or attain them again in the Mac version.
Adjusting to the Mac isn't difficult. I've known real PC junkies that have been through every knook and cranny of Windows and their PC who have gotten Macs and have integrated them seamlessly into the way they work.
It depends on the kind of user you are as well. If you are using your PC primarily for graphics work with Photoshop, and web site building with applications like GoLive and Dreamweaver, the transition to the Mac will be fast, seamless, and the Mac will be an even better platform for all of those applications. For hardcore gamers, however, the transition will be harder as Macs have a little bit to go to be great gaming machines (though they've improved alot).
For a college student, it shouldn't be a problem to switch to Mac. Basic word processing is fine on the Mac. Surfing the web is the same as the PC. Doing research is the same on the Mac. Most college campuses (i know mine does) provides the same software to access the local networks on Mac and PC, so that's all good.
Good luck to you, and hope you're happy with whatever computer you get for college.

I just helped my father pick out my brothers new laptop - a high school graduation gift from my grandparents. Good information, but there was no way I'd have let him get a Mac laptop. I'm just the more technical Win/*nix kind of girl.
Thanks for the great review even if you do like Macs! =)

Great review! (Reply to this comment)

I mean, I'm still not gonna switch to Apple due to the specialized software I have to use for work, but you certainly made me think, and hold off on buying a Windows-based laptop for awhile.
