The Motorola E815 is a very impressive phone for a few qualities: the size of the screen is huge compared to my old LG' the camera and video recorder are an added bonus; the side buttons make it easy to turn the volume up and down without going into menus, accessing the speaker phone while on calls, initiating voice commands and taking a self-portrait with the camera.
Since I had never had a Motorola before, it was fun getting acquainted with this phone. I liked that the screen wallpaper is viewed in the background as you scroll through the menu. The settings were easy to access and change.
The camera has a great zoom, much better than the phones many of my friends have. The picture quality is nothing like my digital camera, but for a phone, it works.
Text messaging is made easy with this phone. It recognizes the words you are typing and will finish it for you. A definite *plus* when trying to type a quick message. It also allows you to program responses into the phone you can access at any time and send to people without having to type it every time.
There are a few things that bother me about this phone. I don't know if it is this specific model, or all Motorola's. First, when you miss a call, it does not show that on the screen of the phone. There isn't even a 'Missed Calls' category under the recent calls. You have to view the number under 'Received Calls', so you don't actually know if the phone was answered when that number called or if you missed it. The other thing that bugs me is the phone does not vibrate very hard. If it is in my purse on my desk at work, I can't hear it vibrate, unlike my LG. Also, the phone is a little heavy. It isn't so much that it bothers me. And it is a little larger than most of the phones on the market. I always carry it in my purse, but if I were to stick it in my pocket, I think it would bother me.
The phone has great reception and the ring tones sound great on it, especially the 'True Tones' that sound as if it was coming from a small radio. The phone is very stylish...probably the best-looking phone Verizon is offering right now. And it was a great buy: I upgraded my phone and Verizon gave me $100 towards it, making the phone $50, but I will receive that $50 back from the mail-in rebate.
