| Jennd417's Full Review: DeLorme AAA Map'n'Go 5.0 |
DeLorme AAA Map'n'Go has to be one of the best mapping programs I have ever owned. I have had this program for three years and any time I travel I get all my directions from my software.
You can plan your route based upon your travel preference and driving habits. You can chose to avoid high toll roads, chose to go scenic routes, fastest routes, and shortest routes. The program automatically calculates the distance and driving time for you. It is very easy to use.
You can select places to stay along the way of your trips, there are several lodgings you can chose from including hotels, motels, bed-and-breakfast inns, campgrounds and more. You can locate restaurants, airports, naval bases, and so much more. It is really a terrific program to have on hand.
Once you have finished your trip plans you can print a travel plan of strip maps, places to see, the directions and more. Since my husband is in the Navy and we do travel a lot we use this program for every trip we make, whether it be local or long distance I never leave the house guessing.
I own version 4.0 which came out in 1998. It is windows capatible. I use it one of my computers which uses Windows 95 and my other two computers which use Windows 98. It is very easy to install. To install you must close out all other applications and run Windows. Insert the cd into your CD-ROM drive the set up will begin automatically. If it does not then all you have to do is choose start, then run then type in d:/setup. The d represents the letter of the CD-ROM drive, yours may be different just substitute the letter out.
There are many great options on this software. I have compiled a list to help you better understand what I mean.
1)New AAA Data- My version is completely updated with AAA's 1998 information.
2)Slide Show-You can chose to to create a personal slide show of your trip.
3)TripPix-Associate photos and slide shows of your trip with customized settings and maps.
4)Kid's Travel Activities-This is one of my favorites. You can chose from an array of travel activites to keep your kids busy.
5)GPS Voise Navigation- If you use GPS, the the program talks to you while you are driving. It tells you how far it is to your next turn and more. We don't use this feature.
6)PalmPilot PDA Support-You can send all your information to your personal palm. This is great if you have one because it saves on printer ink and paper.
I am telling you this software is a must if you travel a lot. Compared to others such as Mapquest this software is so much better. For the one time cost of $69, it is well worth it. The program is easy to install, simple to use, and by far a great program.
One last note, the graphics for the maps is wonderful. It is very easy to see and when you print it is very easy to understand and read the maps.
