| PattyTherre's Full Review: Miraclesuit Strapless Body Briefer |
Few things with miracle in their name really are miraculous. But Miracle Suit really is! When I was 10 pounds heavier, I was very conscious of my belly, which will never be flat no matter what I weigh. I purchased a Miracle Suit bathing suit and whoo baby, did it keep all my body parts sucked in. But at a price. It was darn tight and very expensive.
But what price vanity? It was well worth it.
Early last year, I had a very formal affair to go to. I never go formal but this was a must do for my work. I bought a sexy very body hugging dress that I adored. And it looked great. On the hanger. When I put it on, despite the fact that I am not overweight, I could still see little lumps and the ever present I HAD TWO KIDS!!! belly bump. I wasnt going to give up that dress so I went searching for a body briefer that would help shape me and smooth out the little bumps.
I tried several. Some just didnt get the job done and others felt like I was about to suffocate from being squeezed so tightly. I discovered the Miraclesuit Strapless Body Briefer at Spiegels and decided, given that fact that I looked 10 pounds thinner in their bathing suit (Really, I even used the measuring tape they sent with the suit and I lost inches!), Miracle Suit would be a great brand to wear under my clingy dress.
I didnt try it on before I ordered it but I had faith. And very little time to get anything else so it was this or go lumpy and sit in the corner pouting all night.
The Official Word
From www.speigel.com: Firm control bodybriefer with boning to provide firm support, while double front and side panels firm the tummy and hips to add midriff control and waist definition. Detachable bra straps let you wear it strapless, regular or crisscross in back. Snap-crotch closure. Nylon/LycraŽ; hand wash. USA/Import
My Experience
When they say firm, they mean firm. This shaper has so much spandex (lycra) in it that you cant possibly bulge out of it.
The photo above is slightly different than what the actual briefer looks like. The straps are lower on this one since they detach and the bust is more supported. The material is silkier as well.
You purchase these by your bra size. I guess they figure everything else sort of fits into that sizing range. The straps are detachable and came in a plastic bag with the briefer. I like that I can wear the straps with a crisscross style or a regular one as well as a strapless style.
I am not a fan of strapless undergarments unless I absolutely must wear them. I constantly find myself hiking the things up no matter how tight they are or how well they fit and this was no different. I had to have a strapless briefer because my dress was off the shoulder so I knew I would spend some time doing the booby hike up, but I found I didnt spend nearly as much time as I expected to when wearing this briefer.
The first thing I noticed was that there was boning on the shaper. I dont like boning because, under very clingy clothes, its visible. I like a totally smooth silhouette, which is why I was buying a briefer in the first place. However, the boning wasnt too obtrusive like some I had seen and was there to add to the support of the briefer.
Getting the shaper on was fun. The crotch snaps (which is a very handy thing indeed!) so I snapped it and then stepped into the legs of the briefer. I had to oh so slowly pull it up over my body (Trust me, this wasnt sexy nor easy) and then, at last, fit it to my bust and adjust everything so I looked symmetrical. WOW. Firm? You bet. I felt like I was back in the days of the corset. Once I got past the feeling of being strapped in, I tried on my dress and there was a noticeable difference. I definitely looked sleeker. My belly bump was gone and everything looked firm. The only problem was the boning in the front showed slightly through. Not bad, but a little bit. Next time, if there is a next time, I will go with a briefer with no boning to alleviate the show through.
The cups are lined but not padded. That is another negative in my book because I like a little something there to keep my chestorials up and perky. But, because it was fitted for my bust size, I fit fine into the top part and had no room to spare.
The night of the event, I once again did my slow decent into slimness and threw my dress on and was out the door. After a few hours of primping of course.
At first, I really did feel uncomfortable. I am not used to tight undergarments - I wont even wear control top pantyhose (I actually prefer thigh highs with NO top) -- so to wear something with so much firmness was a shock. I mean, I know you need to breathe now and then and it wasnt easy. But after about an hour, I barely noticed I was wearing it. The only thing that bugged me a bit was that the legs are not very high cut. I am a thong/string bikini girl and am not used to anything around my thighs. The legs are moderately high cut, not terribly low but, for me, it felt strange. I am sure this wont be a problem with most others.
I did find myself yanking up the top part now and then, but this briefer was much better at staying in place than any strapless bra I have worn.
The night was long and, I have to admit, I was really happy to get out of the briefer and let it all hang out. Still, pictures from that night prove that that it did its job. No lumps, bumps, or unsightly fat is anywhere to be found.
I have never worn it again and have lost weight since I did wear it and no longer feel the need to wear a briefer even with a clingy dress. However, the price was reasonable for a Miracle Suit item (I believe it was about $45.00) and it is there in case I ever have a to do to attend and feel I need to vanish all signs of having ever eaten.
This is a great briefer for those really, really important occasions where looks are very important and you want to be your slimmest, sleekest self. Its not the most comfortable garment in the world, but its not so bad that you will be miserable the entire time you have it on. Once you are used to the confines of this briefer, you learn to breathe from your eyes or something and all is fine.
It certainly isnt for everyday wear!
Buying Info
I got mine at www.spiegel.com. I assume you can buy these anywhere Miracle Suit items are available. They make a large array of briefers, panties, belly bands, and, of course, bathing suits, to slenderize and smooth your little (or big) bumps and lumps and all work exceptionally well. Most have 20% spandex, which packs a punch.
Conclusion
Miracle Suit is a great name and you know you will look slimmer when you wear anything they make. This briefer had some things I didnt like. I dont like boning because I like things to be smooth and free of any show through. The boning, however, is really necessary for firm control. I prefer a much higher leg, but the legs on this briefer are not terribly low. They are a moderate cut which many women prefer.
There were plenty of good things about this though. The ability to go from strapless to crisscross to regular straps is a big plus. If you want firm control, you will most definitely get it from this briefer. It holds you in and doesnt stop working all night long. It has a snap crotch with a cotton lining which is convenient. I would never want to try to pull this thing down every time I used the restroom. I would be in there all night. So thats a very necessary feature. Although the cups arent padded, they are well lined and dont crush or otherwise minimize your chest. You can wear a low cut dress or top with this briefer and show a bit of cleavage if you want.
Did it do what it said it would? Yes! Would I wear it again? Probably not. I dont really need such a firm briefer and I think I went a bit overboard when I bought this one. For those who do need something heavy duty, this one will be a favorite of yours. Just dont forget to breathe!
I give this briefer four stars. It actually looks quite sexy for being such a workhorse and, while there are a few features I personally didnt like, if taking off some weight and having a smooth silhouette is what youre after, this briefer does it wonderfully. Its not like wearing a lace teddy, but no pain will look like you gained and you wouldnt want that, would you? ;)
