Sorry about your mother. You are right, we must really pay attention to those around us. Life is to short not to.

Thanks for the support and comment.

this series with great interest and with much heartbreak for what your family is enduring.

It makes me realize all the more how important it is to 'live for each day' and to be grateful for the health we still have.

My mother was widowed and insisted she live alone in her home of 60 years. She seemed to be doing fine when my brother and I checked with her, often. When we finally realized that some of the 'strange' things she said and did were related to dementia, it was too late to impede the onset of Alzheimer's. So, my advice to anyone is to realize that 'at first' you can be fooled easily, and the sick ones are very clever in concealing their problem. We were sorry we hadn't practiced the "tough love" with her, but were always trying to protect her dignity. Wrong! but hard.

God bless. Such good reviews I am sure will help others to cope.

Well Stated! (Reply to this comment)

While dealing with my Mother's condition (also Alzheimer's) I discussed this disease with medical people (Drs. & RN). One obstacle remains about arresting this disease in it's early stages, and that is detection. By the time family members notice that something is wrong, it's probably already too late to do anything other than slow it down. There is simply too much that is not known about the mind and the way it functions. Again, I wish you and your family the best in dealing with this situation. I know how difficult it can be.

Regards, Mike
