| mrmazda's Full Review: General Reviews of Cingular Wireless Customer Serv... |
This review is about the customer service of Cingular, not the calling plans. Over the last 4 months, I have had a nightmare dealing with Cingular and was glad to see that there is a general category!
My contract ended 2/01/01. I wasn't aware of this, forgive me for not marking a spot of my mind to remember it! Last year they send 50 million reminders and this year they didn't send any since they had just changed to Cingular. Thus, 2/01/01, my problems started.
The bill I received in February was $580. Since my contract had expired, they put me on the general plan that has like no minutes, etc. This was a coronary to me since my normal bill is around $100.00 a month. I called customer service........After being on hold for 25 minutes, I finally got an operator who wasn't helpful in the least. Since moving to Cingular, things that the customer service rep used to be able to handle now has to be approved through managers, creating a huge time delay in getting problems resolved. The rep was going to have to get approval to put me under the old plan and approval to credit my account for anything over the old plan cost. They would call me within 24 hours to give me a new bill total and fax me a contract to sign.
Three weeks later, still no word. I called again, only to be on hold this time for 40 minutes, with horrible music mind you! I spoke to the rep (not the same one) and they said they would email their manager and re-do all of the paperwork. Apparently it wasn't filed correctly or was lost. Once again I was told I would be contacted within 24 hours.
The next bill came in.....$860 bucks! Since I only paid $100 of the previous bill, I then owed Cingular $1340. I wasn't going to and had no intentions of paying until I knew the credited amount had been taken off and that my contract was back in place.
I called again, thankfully with a speaker phone and was hold for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Ridiculous! Never should anyone have to wait for that long! Who is the customer here? When I got in touch with the rep, I went through the whole scenario again and was told that a contract would be sent out and that I would definately hear from the manager within 48 hours......You can figure the next part out! I didn't!
In the last week, I have received daily calls telling me I am in default, had my phone shut off (back on each time though) and with my third bill, I currently owe Cingular $2286. hehehe, like I am actually going to pay that crap! I have continued to pay $100 a month for the three months of bills this year. I did speak to a rep yesterday who did say she signed me up under my old contract, filled out the for a credit (taking my phone bill from $2286 to $120 owed). I am supposed to hear from the manager sometime this week about approval. It will be interesting to see if I actually hear from them. As of right now, I would love to switch to another cellular carrier but I have had this number for so long and since it's my only form of phone communication, I don't want to go through the drama of changing it. That's the one bad part of cell plans, your number isn't moveable between carriers!
