Pros:price, ease of use, has all features I need
Cons:had to buy 2nd cradle for serial connection, no updatable OS
The Bottom Line: With recent rebates, this is the best mid-level PDA available.
I waited a while to buy a PDA because I wasn't ever sure I would actually use one to even a slight percentage of its potential. But Christmas landed a Deluxe in my lap before I could finish "thinking about it."
I should note that I'm reviewing this unit in relation to its nearest competitors, esp. the Palm III series. I know Palm V, the Edge, etc. are smaller, faster, etc. but they're not in the same class.
Briefly:
Plenty of memory. Most of the software I have added has barely dented available memory.
Screen. I did have to replace one after I dropped it on a tile floor. It was easy as cake, but I do recommend buying insurance on it from wherever you buy it. I NEVER buy it on electronics I buy but in this case I'm glad I had it.
Springboard module. I have to admit my bias: I will probably never use this feature, except maybe for a GPS, but it's nice to have.
I like DateBook+ a lot and wish they would just eliminate regular DateBook.
I love the world clock (I actually use it all the time).
I have excellent luck synching with Mac and Win95.
The size, although almost identical to the Palm III series, seems a bit more natural to me than the Palm's.
Plastic is plastic, but Handspring's seems a bit better than Palm's.
Maybe it will bother me someday that I can't update the Palm OS in my Visor, but right now it doesn't. And by then, I'll have probably bought an Edge.
