The Bottom Line Avoid this place: the flowers are dead and rotten, even if the pictures are pretty.

I ordered flowers from an Internet flower delivery company for the first time, and what an experience! Usually I simply call local florist (zip2.com, category florists)near where I need flowers delivered and place an order over the phone.
This time, 1800flowers.com caught my attention with beautiful pictures on the website and lots of cute little arrangement. The website is fast, easy-to-use, and it lets one order without going through the nuisance of creating an account.
On Tuesday, I picked a small cactus arrangement at $24.99, delivery charge was $7.99, with some coupon discount total came to $27.98. After I placed the order, I received a confirmation email, and an invitation to fill out a survey for bizrate.com about my experience. I believe it was optional, took about 20min.
On Thursday afternoon, on time, my cactus arrived, only it's broken into a bunch of little pieces, flowers have fallen off and the whole arrangement is a sorry-looking mess.
I used the customer service chat line in 1800flowers.com website to complain, and the representative offered to send a replacement arrangement the following Monday. I asked to have it sent sooner - it's a birthday arrangement, and birthday is that day - she said she could not do that. So I agreed to wait for the replacement cactus till Monday. I also asked the representative to send me email with the information about replacement order and her name. Email arrived a few minutes after the chat session.
The following Monday another cactus showed up - not only broken into pieces, but also ROTTEN(!). I wowed to never order from 1800flowers.com again, and to let other people know about this place. Customer service representative I talked to via the chat line took a few minutes to check my complaint, said she'd refunded my money and put an order to check what's wrong with their supplier/delivery service.
I asked her to send me an email confirming our conversation, but 20min later there is no email from her yet.
1800flowers.com is ROTTEN, and I'm back to calling local florists for flower delivery.
