I can still vividly recall the first time that I tried absinth [the French version is spelled absinthe], it was considered the forbidden fruit amongst most people was and something that almost everyone passed on when a bottle was opened. If youve viewed Francis Ford Copollas version of Bram Stokers Dracula then you may recall the scene where Mina is seduced by Vlad as he pours a green liquid over a sugar cube into a glass; the word sin being accentuated on the bottle through the glass. Absinth isnt something that you can purchase within the United States and if a store has it in stock, chances are it isnt a true brand of absinth but a knock off. There are a number of reasons why it isnt sold in the United States, the number one being that it contains wormwood, something that is considered a mild hallucinogenic. I wont deny that it can cause some rather interesting effects if you have more than a few shots of it or have never had the drink and it is pretty safe to say this - if you cant handle your liquor then absinth isnt something that you should try.
Sebor absinth is one of the finest made and it is distilled using an old family recipe. This goes down smoother than any other absinth that I have ever tried and while it does cost a little more than other brands, it is definately worth it. The website offers great deals, exceptional absinth products and allows you to legally import it. I have ordered from the site a number of times and have never had any trouble receiving goods, I really have to stress that this is 100% legal and you will never have any trouble with U.S. Customs. Other sites claim that they follow all proper procedures regarding importing and shipping of absinth but when you ask them how many of their parcels have been flagged by Customs for improper paperwork or incomplete manifests they arent exactly quick to answer. To make things clear here - it is illegal to sell an absinth product in the United States but it is not illegal to posses it or consume it.
Sebor Absinth
More than just a storefront ...
The Sebor site is one that I trust when it comes to placing orders for absinth or absinth related products like clothing, drinking glasses, spades and sets. First and foremost, their customer service team goes above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that every order is handled and processed quickly but accurately as well. When ever I have contacted them about something they replied quickly and gave me direct, clear answers. This is one of the many reasons why I order from the site and recommend them to anyone that is looking to order absinth. Another thing is the packaging - it is impeccable. Out of all the orders I have placed as well as the orders that I have placed for other people to be shipped as gifts - not a single one of the them have arrived damaged. One odd note to add, the plant and offices are located in Surrey so if you have any Harry Potter fans in your house you best not let them see the package or they might think its from him. That might sound weird but it did happen once; there was a knock at the door, I signed for the package and put the box on the table. One of the boys saw the markings on the box and stopped dead in his tracks. SURREY, who do you know in SURREY? Like I was holding out on him or something. Kids.
The site sells everything from the drink to gift packages, shirts, hats, drinking glasses and more. Everything that they sell is of fine quality and perfect for gift giving and if you are worried about something taking forever to arrive, it takes about five to seven business days for things to reach the United States. If you want to safeguard yourself, opt for the additional insurance - that way if anything at all happens to the package, they will refund or reship your order. You will need to be available to sign for the item when it arrives so if you arent home please make sure a neighbor will accept it and sign for it. The site is easy to navigate, provides you with ample information about their line and if you do have questions, they are always available via email to answer inquires. All the orders I have placed have arrived in a timely fashion and were expertly packed - even if it was tossed around or handled roughly, theres no way the contents would be damaged.
Payment Options
The site takes Visa and MasterCard along with some Euro cards that most Americans wont have. Your safest bet is to use Visa since they accept any cards that bear the Visa logo. I believe at one time they did take wire transfers but with the cost of the transfer, currency conversion you have to pay at the transfer site and other fees it is cheaper and less stressful to just use Visa. I am not sure if they still do this so you will have to check the site to be sure. The compete list of cards the accept are: Visa, Delta, JBC, Euro Sold, American Express, MasterCard, Euro MasterCard and Switch. Most of these cards are issued by foreign banks, if you have any questions regarding payment, its nest to email them rather than call unless you are familiar with making overseas calls and the time differences.
Return Policy
The site doesnt have a defined return policy but they are dedicated to customer satisfaction. If you arent satisfied with what you have received then email them to find out what the deal is. If you receive something that is damaged contact them about getting a replacement items. So far I havent been the least bit disappointed with anything that I have ordered for them for myself or for gifts for other people. Their customer service is incredible and they respond to emails in a timely fashion. If you do call them let them know right off the bat that you are calling from overseas so they wont put you on hold.

Shipping Rates
Since you are ordering overseas you will have to pay a little more to get your items delivered but they do not rake you over the coals on shipping fees. The price you pay for shipping depends on what you order and where it is being shipping. When I order a few bottles it usually comes out to about $9.00 for shipping - something that you just cant argue with because you are getting quick shipping and things are expertly packaged. When you put something in your cart you will be shown the amount of shipping before you pay for things so you can play around to get the most for your shipping dollar. If you arent familiar with the currency conversions then you might want to have a currency site open in another window so you will know the dollar value you are being charged. If you have any questions about this, email them - they are always more than happy to help people with overseas orders.
The Bottom Line
I have turned a lot of people on to absinth over the years and when ever they wanted to order some for themselves this is the site that I tell them to check out. They are great to work with when placing an order and are always interested in feedback. You can check out the customer comments at the site to see what others have to say about them and be sure to sign up for their newsletter to keep up on new products and special offers. If you have ever wanted to have the absinth experience but werent sure where to get it, check out the Sebor site. Not only do they have the best absinth on the market but they give you a lot of the historical information about it that youll want to know before you crack open that first bottle.
As always, thanks for the read!
