After reading the Blinds.com website instructions carefully, I made my measurements according to their very clear on-line instructions (essentially we provided the window dimensions - they figure out what needs to be done from there) and ordered two sets of simple, white mini blinds.
The blinds were for a corner kitchen window with countertop in the way, so we needed both controls on the "outside", and as it turns out the two windows inside dimensions were about 3/16 inch different from each other.
Blinds.com made the ordering process for an admittedly abstract and difficult concept - dimensions, blinds style, controls position, etc. fairly straightforward - but, I will stress, you MUST READ THE INSTRUCTIONS - then read them again to be sure.
Blinds.com has an embarrassingly poor e-commerce site. They have no way to check order status, no automated e-mail goes out to let you know the production or shipping status and it takes a telephone call to Texas to find out where things are. Production was to take four days for our order, after 9 business days we called, left a voice mail message - they do not seem to have live operators.
We received two calls back - one was a hang-up (caller-ID to the rescue!) and in the other we were told that it was "Fed Ex'ed" (which by the way is a company - not a shipping method!) to us and we would receive it the next day. In this modern age, there is no excuse to have such a poor e-commerce site. The customer service personnel savings alone would more than pay for it.
As promised, we did receive the package the next day. The blinds arrived properly packed and with simple, clear instructions on the installation process. The order was complete and installation took me about thirty minutes (two sets of blinds). We ordered the least-expensive version and they used the cheaper end-bracket-with-a-door mounting technique, rather than the higher-end "snap-in" invisible mounting method. The quality of the blinds is superb, and all the controls work smoothly. The blinds have already been shortened to the correct length for my window - a real time saver vs. the Home Depot/Lowes route!
