The Bottom Line I think if you have kids in the situation do what is in the best interest for them and not for you unless there is a reason why you can't.
I have been lucky enough to have grown up in a home with two parents, but people all around me such as my friends, aunts and uncles, and even my grandparents have had divorces and I see the pain they have all gone through. I am not saying that everybody has painful break-ups it just seems to happen that way in my life. Just recently my cousins parents broke up and both of them had kids from different relationships and some kids togather so when my aunt left she took all the kids except for his which was only one. Unlike most children who are in situations like that, she stays with us whenever she wants to since her dad is at work and can't quit because he is co-owner. Even though she has us, there is still that emptiness that misses her sybllings (she is ok with her dad and step mom spliting up because she wasn't that close to her now usually that is not for me to decide but I am going by what she told me)and as I watch when she is about to cry every time she says she misses them I think if there are ways to help her and there is. Why stand at a distance when you could be helping in little ways.( I'm sorry if I am drifting away from the topic)When I am around her and my brother and sister I try not to fight as much with them because I don't want her to be in a fighting situations like the one she was in at home. Also, when there is a divorce most of the time the parent is stressed out so when ever she would come over my mom wouldn't do things in front of her that get her stressed. She dosen't do that around us anyway , but she was a little more careful when she(my cousin) was around. I hope my opinion was a bit helpful. I think you would get a little more help out of a book and I'm sorry if I went a way off the subject and didn't help you at all.  |
