Bad list (Reply to this comment)
by terraceten
This list is a joke, only because you've hit upon players who are very well recognized. Noone is at a loss to describe the brilliance of most of these guys. More importantly, John Williams the guitarist and the composer are two different people.
Research next time.

Yeah, thanks for the comment. I think Hanneman is overlooked, since not many people like him. His speedy riffs are always amazing to the ear, and is something most gutiarists can't emulate. I agree that Malmsteen is a great guitarist. He has it all (I actually should have put him in my list).
Again, thanks for the comment.

don't know about Hanneman... (Reply to this comment)

but I like a lot of your other choices. Slayer solos always sounded to me like a bunch of speed and whammy bar tricks and very little melody -- kind of the opposite of Don Felder's lovely melodic soloing on Hotel California.
I'm also a huge fan of George Lynch from Dokken and I like Yngwie Malmsteen a lot even though some people think he's all speed.

Thanks for the recommendation. I heard them long ago, but haven't really listened to them.
Anyhow, thanks for the comment,

You forgot Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac. His work on "Big Love" and "I'm So Afraid" from The Dance are great.
