Gonna have to take issue with one of them though-Sexism goes both ways here as with anywhere-which sadly means that there are as many women who trust and read based on a pic as there are men. (and it's only men I've seen posting shirtless pics! lol)

I VH the review... (Reply to this comment)

but disagree with some of your points. I have discovered many high quality writers here, and I have made several good friends with whom I chat on occassion. I often seek out the opinions of others here at Epinions before trying a new product...especially if it is expensive. Why try something if everyone else says it doesn't work anyway?
Even many of those so called "useless" opinions on the site do serve a purpose. Many newcomers find them a valuable source of information, and I personally often find them funny, charming, or indicative of a perspective I hadn't considered before.
BTW, just in case you're wondering, I do have a life, I do play with my children, I do cook supper...had stuffed pasta, fried corn, and a salad last night..., I have a job, I participate in activities outside my home. Oh, and I just finished reading Valorian last night. Possibly these people to whom you refer are simply capable of multi-tasking and actually enjoy doing what they do here.
Obviously you are a good writer, and it is a shame to see someone with a penchant for the craft leave the site, but maybe it is for the best if you feel that this site does not serve a useful purpose in your life.
I'll have to check out Consumer Reports, since you feel it is such a valuable source of information. In fact, maybe I'll write a review of it.

In Defense of Epinions (Reply to this comment)

Your criticism is valid, but guess what -- gluttony, arrogance, sexism -- welcome to humanity. Humans are selfish and prejudice and greedy. Any community you're part of, be it church, office-life, or family, will inevitably display these petty annoyances. Yes, some people take things too far on this site. Writing for a public audience is thrilling, and it can be an obsession. But the entire community is not a bunch of hyped-up zombies. People just get caught up in the power of words, and they care about what they're doing. It's easy to become fed up with politics of any group. It's easy to criticize and walk away. If you don't want to write any more epinions, then don't. But don't blame the site. This place offers you a forum to publish your material, to get feedback on your writing, to share ideas, and learn about new products and services. Don't let others ruin it for you; like anything else, this place is what you make it.
