Have you ever been a little weary of traveling to a place you have never been? Well, with this little navigation tool, you don't ever have to be again.
I love to travel, but I'm always afraid I'll get lost. Maybe it's because I'm afraid of my wife making fun of me for not stopping and asking directions...I don't know. But, ever since I bought this, I've never had that problem.
In case you don't know what GPS is, here goes a simple summary from a simple mind. GPS stands for Global Positioning System. It is based around satellites that circle the earth. GPS can tell you where you are at any time on the earth. I said it would be simple!
Anyway, this product is great! I love it! There are way too many options to list here without writing a book, but here are a few of the ones I really like (and hopefully you will like them too).
1. Battery life. This only uses two AA batteries. The life of these two batteries is around 15 minutes. There is also a 10 year lithium battery backup. 15 minutes may not sound like very long, but you have to remember that you probably will only have it on for a few minutes at a time.
2. Adequate storage. This will store up to 500 locations that you set. It will also store up to 20 different routes that you also choose. This will allow you to save almost all of the trips in this one little tool without having to ever carry a map.
3. Weatherproof. This may not seem like a big deal to you, but I live in the south and everyone down here is either a fisherman or knows someone who is. I recently took this fishing with my uncle and he was amazed. If you are a fisherman and you have a certain tree top you always go to, this will help you determine where it is.
4. Small and lightweight. According to the box it is only 7 ounces. It is also only 6 inches tall and 2 inches wide. This makes it very easy to carry with you whether you are in the car, in a boat, or on a plane (I'm sure airplane rides would be much more fun with this...you could determine exactly where you are).
5. The price is right. You can find this almost anywhere for under $200 for the product only. I just looked on the Internet and found numerous places where this was less than $200. For an extra $40 or so, you can get the software to download over 500,000 points of interest around the globe (most in the US of course) including interstate exit ramps, campgrounds, etc.
As you can see, this is one great piece of equipment. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys travel. It is great for getting from one place to another. With the extra software, you can also find historical landmarks in case you want to visit them on your next trip.
I would not recommend this to someone who enjoys getting lost and griped at by his wife. If you really enjoy this type of thing, this is not the product for you. But, if you don't enjoy it, but must endure it from time to time, consider this and make your wife happier.
