Excellent review. (Reply to this comment)

I'm a big gamer myself and have been since the days of The Atari 2600. The Gennesis is actually one of my faves also... although The Dreamcast gets the honor of being my alltime favorite console... the one I cherish above all others. Again excellent job!

Well... (Reply to this comment)

Aren't you the little Sega nut? (sarcasm) It's nice to see that there are some people who still remember the 16-bit golden age. I still play my Genesis, and for Christmas I was lucky enough to find a Game Gear for my dad-he had been clamoring for one for some years.
So: How do I go about finding a good place to get my Genesis repaired? And while I'm on the subject of game systems, Ps2 or Xbox?
I wish you luck in semi-retirement. I think I speak for a few people when I say: We'll all miss reading your new reviews.
Peace
Nicholas

This is amazing stuff and brought the memories flooding back. Sonic The Hedgehog, ToeJam & Earl, Dark Castle... well, maybe not the latter.
I'm going to dig mine up now and veg out while playing the original Fifa games I think.
Excellent work.

And I have to agree: Double Dragon 3 is one of the worst games ever.
Hmmmm... reading your essay makes me want to go back to my roots again... Expect to read an essay on my old Commodore 64 soon ;-)

Genesis Q&A (Reply to this comment)
by Tendo600
I think that this is one of the most helpful opinions that I have ever read on the Sega Genesis. I want to thank you for writing this and also I would like to say that you must be my soulmate because we have the same likes and dislikes. I love Squaresoft and it seems that you do as well. Anyway, if you ever get a chance write me sometime.

The Nomad appears to have some of the same problems similar to the Game Gear. Most obvious of them all was how quickly it ate up on battery power. Even with its 6 AA batteries, all you got from it was probably a couple of hours tops. It was no surprise then, why many people stuck with their Game Boys.

I bought a Sega Nomad, it seemed like a good idea. But, it had too many problems. It was huge and ate up batteries like no-one's bizness. You also had to buy a separate battery pack to attach on to the nomad cause the thing was too large to have a battery slot on it. The thing must have weighed 5 or 6 pounds when it was all loaded up with a game and batteries. It was barley portable.

I haven't seen too much new work from you lately, this review was a nice comeback! Very detailed, this review taught me many things I didn't know about the Genesis, I never owned one, I was more into Nintendo at the time. Great Review!
