Palm Inc. does a good job of producing a truly affordable PDA. The m100 costs under $150 but is still a very effective business tool. I use mine to keep track of all appointments and contacts. As soon as I get another business card I input all the information into my Palm. No more searching for little scraps of paper! The screen on the m100, although smaller than that of the V series, is still very easy to read and has an excellent backlight for low-light conditions. As with all Palms, you input information with a small plastic pen, referred to as a stylus. The letters are slightly different than normal letters, but it is very easy to learn. Palm even includes a tutorial that shows you how to write all letters, numbers and symbols. After a little practice it is a very fast and natural-feeling way to input information.
The only downside to the inexpensive m100 is that it has only 2 MB of memory. While this is more than enough for the system software and thousands of entries, it is not enough when one wishes to add other software. For example, I found a Palm dictionary that I wanted to keep on it, but the dictionary itself was over 2 megs. This is when the 8 MB in the other Palm models is worth the extra money. I believe that Palm will be offering an m105, the same model with 8 megs for under $200.
