This is another in a long list of cheap cleaning products that only does a halfway job of cleaning. There are a couple of these types of products that I like but this is not one of them.
What it came with.
Upon opening the package I found 4 adhesive pads for the swiffer, 4 arm pieces and the head.
How to assemble
The initial assembly of the hardware was easy, I didnt even read the directions since it was so intuitive. And it took about 15 seconds. You slide the handle piece on to a metal bar, that slides into another metal bar, and then you slide the pad & bar on and you are done.
After the hardware is assembled you then need to remove the insert on the bottom. Slowly remove the protective paper surrounding the pad and insert the pad in the bottom. Then youre ready to go. In all it will take about 1-2 minutes.
How it works
It is pushed around like a vacuum, just smaller and quieter. It kind of reminds me of those non-powered sweepers some restaurants use to clean under a table. When you push it around the loose material on top of the carpet gets stuck to the bottom of the adhesive pad, or debris flicks up and gets stuck to the top of the adhesive pad. The pad you insert has an adhesive on both sides which is why debris gets stuck on the top of the pad.
My first experiences
I went ahead and did a small part of my living room carpet where a lot of traffic occurred. This area was a mess so it was perfect task for this tool. Problem was it did not work very well. There was still a lot of particulate matter on the carpet even after going over it 5 times. I would guess that 20% of the surface debris remained and it only picks up surface debris. I also tried to pick up some gold fish crackers my daughter spilled but they were too big and were just pushed by the unit.
How much did it pick up?
I went ahead and did half of my house then weighed the pad. A blank pad and covering weighed 12 grams on my scale. The used pad and coverings weighed 14g so it only picked up 2 grams of debris. In my opinion this was not much. I would have picked up 10 times that in my vacuum in the same amount of time.
My summary of the results
After using it on the hallway, my bedroom, and my living room, I found that I was very disappointed with the results. I did not feel it cleaned the surface well plus it only cleans the surface. I know it is designed for quick cleaning of surfaces only but it did not do that well. Plus it does not work on hard floors at all (and yes I tried.)
The ergonomics and ease of use
I found that it was easy to use. The design of the handle was relatively comfortable. It was not hard to push at all. I also felt it was long enough for a 6 foot person to use without bending over. But I would have liked another 6-12 inches or even an adjustable height feature.
Who is this for?
I wouldnt recommend this product for anyone. This is because it did not do a good enough job cleaning in my opinion.
Alternatives
I would not use this again. I found that my 18V Ryobi handheld vacuum is a far better cleaning tool. Yes its more expensive but it works on both hard floor and carpet, and it picks up most debris like fish crackers. Just keep in mind that the Ryobi will not be able to cover as much surface area as this tool does. But you can use the Ryobi on a sofa, chair, or your car whereas the Swiffer is not designed for those surfaces.
Cleaning
There is nothing to clean. The tool itself just needs to be wiped down periodically. The adhesive pad is disposable.
Storage
It easily fits in a small space next to my fridge. But if you like to hang your tools, it does have a loop at the end of the handle.
Weight and dimensions
Weight: 1 lb
Handle length: approximately 46 inches

Summary
I personally am not impressed with this product. The main reason for me is that the cleaning is superficial. The product only cleans the carpet surface. I hate cleaning but if I do clean I make sure it is thorough. Needless to say this product was not designed with me in mind. But I can see a use for it. It is silent so you can use it around a sleeping baby (or a sleeping husband that acts like a baby.) It is convenient for the elderly or disabled. It is also a lot easier than pulling out your handheld vacuum when you are just dealing with a carpet. But it is limited to cleaning the surface of the carpet and nothing else.
