young_one's Full Review: Marvel vs Capcom 2 for PlayStation 2
This game provided more fun then I had with a fighting game in a couple of years. I luckily got this game for free after someone handed it to me because it wouldn't work on there PS2. I had no idea what I had in my hands until I fired it up and started playing. Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is a 2D game with a Street Fighter type feel to it. It included some of the most famous characters in gaming and in comics including, Ken, Ryu, Wolverine, Cyclops, Strider, Cable, Spiderman, and even Iceman. The game includes over 56 characters. Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 includes different exciting modes. They include the Arcade mode, the Versus mode, training mode, and score attack to name a few. In most of the modes you assemble a dream tag team of 3 characters and tear up the opponents. Another great thing in this game is the Secret Factor. In this menu you can use points you've gained by playing the Arcade, Vs., or training mode to unlock various things. You can unlock new outfits for characters, new artwork for different characters, new levels, and even new characters. The Hyper Combos for the characters are very effective. They're easily pulled off most of the time but can wipe out about half of the opposing characters life. You can even do a triple Hyper Combo where all of your characters do the Hyper Combo at the same time. The levels in the game are absolutely dazzling. The colors pop out at you from the backgrounds. And upper cutting someone whose been bothering you the whole match is very satisfying when you see them fly up and then fall to the beautiful looking ground. While they're aching you can be enjoying the gorgeous looking levels. The music is alright and could be better. There's not a whole lot of variety. The music is basically the same stuff over and over again. But should a little bad music stop you from playing an excellent fighting game? Heck no is the answer. The game grabs you and makes you play it's so good. You'll have a hard time putting down the controller with this game. I hope you have enough info now on this game to allow you to form your own opinion on whether or not this is your type of game.
