Using this product takes some getting used to; however, once you've become accustomed to it, you'll never go to any other mattress topper as this topper is primo comfortable. I've compared this item to several other items which I'll also mention in this review in hopes that it'll save you time in your research in finding a mattress topper or creating your own Memory Foam bed.

First off, the feel of this topper is quite soft and softer when compared to the Novaform topper that you can find at BedBathAndBeyond. I contacted Linens n' Things (Where I purchased this from) and they indicate that it's ILD is 12-14 where BBB's is around 15. If you don't know what ILD is, search the internet for "ILD Memory Foam." Also, when compared to Overstock.com's O-4S300 "Premium Memory Foam 4-inch Mattress Topper (All Sizes)" and O-3S400 "Memory Foam 3-inch Mattress Topper (All Sizes)", it is hands down far superior to them both as I thought those from Overstock.com were more foam than memory foam. They had a slight consistency of memory foam but if you've used the toppers from LNT and BBB, you can definitely tell that the Overstock.com toppers are truly inadequate and will feel totally ripped off.

So, quality wise, the one from BBB and LNT were the same. I haven't used it over 10 years so I can't tell you how they're holding up. So far though, they're working well without any permanent impressions and I've used it for over 3 months.

When first receiving this, you'll notice a distinct smell. We left ours out for about 2 days to let it regain its shape and dissipate its "new foam" smell. We then changed our sheets and bedding weekly for about a month before we couldn't notice the smell anymore. Yes, it takes a while but it really was worth it for us and we love it.

Now, for us, we stacked the LNT topper on top of the BBB topper and use it as a mattress atop a platform bed. Since my wife and I are less than 150 lbs, this works great for us and now we have a customized "memory foam bed."

Product background wise, the toppers from LNT are manufactured using the Sensus Foam from Foamex.

In summary, The Dan Marino Mattress Topper takes some getting used to but is worth years of comfort. Don't try to save money with the junk from Overstock.com as you're only wasting money. Remember, you get what you pay for.

UPDATE:
Now that I've had this topper for over a year now, I thought I'd send in an update and some knowledge regarding foam matresses. After changing the cover a few times, I noticed that there are "tears" in the foam. Not something I expected to happen; however, they're there. I am disappointed at the apparent material flaws; however, it may be attributed to the fact that we didn't use a cover for awhile, and as you can imagine, any foam under tension in going to tear. Now, it didn't tear in half or anything like that; however, think of it as a small fracture/tear here and there, especially in the areas of heavy use. I've also noticed that foam is noticeable softer in areas where I sleep but my wife's side is still nice and firm. I have no idea why that is.

Further, we have added another 30 ILD dense foam underneath so that we wouldn't feel the wood underneath the topper when we sat up or just leaned on our elbows.

Finally, something I also learned/realized is that foam is sensitive to heat and will basically "melt" as it warms up to you and is a bit less supportive through the night so, if I were to do this again, I would use the topper (about 2") and something a little, but not much, firmer underneath so that it would provide a little more support through the night. Heck, I should have just thought of why Tempurpedic has those different layers and just design it like that. Oh well, still serves us well.
