Pros: Small, fun to tinker with, extra disks are cheap, ease of use.
Cons: VERY buggy, both hardware and software wise. Will break very quickly (within a month).
The Bottom Line: Iomega needs to make sure their products work, or at least offer better support if they don't. Stay away until they make a model which works.

| mr_chupon99's Full Review: Iomega Hipzip 31311 40 MB MP3 Player |
I wrote this huge review for this little toy, because I was so pleased with it. It was working wonderfully...then it broke. If you recall a children's book called "Matilda", the father is a used car salesman who would sell cars that would work just long enough for the person to get a few kilometers away from the dealership. That's Iomega in a nutshell. Upon having to recharge it for the first time since I purchased it, it suddenly stopped recognising all my disks. It was then I went to the support site and saw the horror........a forum for HotZip support was pretty much a nightmare of people complaining about their HotZip breaking down, having errors, having it replaced up to FOUR TIMES in the span of a few months, and still encountering errors with it. My problem was among one of the more popular ones, one which Iomega does not address anywhere on their site, and what support the users before me got was described as "un-satisfactory" by some of the kinder people. The rest used many words with * % and # symbols in reference to Iomega as a company. Any good points I had written about this unit are obselete now as to the fact that this player will break on you within a month of buying it. This is not a biased opinion. This is based upon the voices within the support forum as well. Since this product is shipped with defects built-in, I have to say AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS! I realize that it's rated quite high, and I have to agree that it is a wonderful player as long as it works. But the fact is that there is a high percentage chance of it breaking, and although Iomega would be happy to replace the unit, what will you do after the warranty expires (and do you really want to replace your player every few months?).
