| njchicaa's Full Review: Method Streak-Free Glass Cleaner, Mint |
I love Method products. I really do. I've used their bathroom cleaner, after-shower spray, wood dusting spray, hardwood floor cleaner, all-purpose surface cleaner, and dish detergent. I always held off on buying the "streak-free" glass cleaner because I even managed to produce streaks with Windex and Streak-Free Windex. Surely a natural, biodegradable, animal-friendly brand couldn't succeed where the King of the Glass Cleaners failed?
About Method
From the website: At method, we're for clean. Clean air, clean water, clean homes, and clean living.
Their catch-phrase is "People against dirty." They use only biodegradable earth-friendly, lung-friendly ingredients that are never tested on animals.
Method's Description of the Glass Cleaner
mint window wash
This is an extremely effective method for streak-free cleaning of the windows, glass, and mirrors. Why is it blue? For some reason, people insist on glass cleaners being blue in color. The mint scent was our idea. Soon, glass cleaners will have to be both blue and minty. Just remember who thought of it first.
Ingredients
You will find ZERO ingredient information on the bottle and only general comments on the website: method's products are a safer alternative to common household cleaning products. The active ingredients are naturally derived from coconut and palm oils, which are paired with water and other non-toxic elements. method uses unique proprietary cleaning formulas, and for intellectual property reasons we do not give out the specific names of the chemicals we use. Our products do not contain acids, chlorine or propylene glycol, phosphates, hydrocarbons or other polluting chemicals and are 100% biodegradable. They are non-toxic and do not give off harmful vapors. We do get a snippet of further information about this particular product, however:
Do method's products contain the ammonia?
The Window Wash contains a small amount of ammonia, which is essential to prevent streaking. Due to method's unique formulation, however, we have been able to reduce the amount of ammonia to a fraction of other glass cleaners by using other unique active ingredients that facilitate effective cleaning with rapid evaporation to eliminate streaking.
Do method's products contain alcohol?
method's shower cleaner and Window Wash contain very small percentages of alcohol components.
Cost and Availability
I buy my Method products from Target. I've also seen them available online at www.drugstore.com . Target's prices are much cheaper than the suggested retail by the manufacturer. I believe I got it for $2.99, possibly less, while they list the price as $4. I also recently bought the Cucumber dish detergent for $1.48 per bottle and it was also listed at $4 each.
Does It Work?
Yup. It cleans glass surfaces and mirrors like a champ with absolutely NO streaking. None. The mint scent is very light which is a nice change from harsh ammonia scents of other products. It is a pleasure to clean with Method's Glass Cleaner.
