Bring on the revenge ratings!

The Bottom Line Welcome everyone! Including revenge raters!!!
I am still fairly new to Epinions, and I have noticed there are a lot of very helpful and kind people roaming around this place reading and rating (or just rating, which is not that bad in my opinion). I have generally tried not to step on toes with my comments or annoy or irritate writers if I didn't really think the review warranted a VH or H, but gave one anyway. But I have recently come across something that I find very amusing - revenge ratings (hopefully if you are one of them right now you read all of this).
I personally really enjoy roaming around Epinions content and reading and rating a wide variety of stuff. And I especially like to go look at the work of anyone who rates my work, adds me to their web of trust, or receives new opinion notification about my contributions. I really appreciate it and I have tried to get around to virtually everyone who takes the time to read & rate my reviews.
When I write my reviews I consider some things before writing: 1) Can I write about my selection and be sufficiently informative? 2) Is the selection actually on Epinions? 3) Am I craving a donut, a cookie, or a glass of pop?
Naturally I go with #3 first and answer "YES POP!", promptly filling up my glass with some yummy Wild Cherry Pepsi or sometimes Apple Juice (I TRY to be at least somewhat health conscious) before I begin writing. But if I do answer yes to questions #1 and #2, let the writing begin!
Next I consider three things: A) Did I write a long enough review? B) Did I sufficiently analyze and not just summarize what I was writing about (I’m always trying to improve on my analytical abilities)? C) Should I go play with my funky cat Igor?
Of course usually I go play with my cat for a bit! Then it's back to business! Once I feel I have done A & B good enough, I edit my contribution and read it through at least twice (I tend to skim too much so I'll usually miss errors or problems if I just read through it once). I still manage to miss errors often, but I do frequently go back and read my own work and update them when I come across any. Certainly I realize I'm not that great of a writer (I constantly struggle with improper usage of words, double negatives, and all that other fun English 101 stuff) but I do put a lot of effort into making a decent contribution. So I appreciate it when someone gives me the rating I believe I deserve.
I realize there are a lot of people on Epinions who are just like me - not English masters. But what gets me is the people that obviously don't even try (for one thing there is a built in spell checker, although it doesn’t give you the correct spelling, it’s not hard to find the correct spelling - for example: dictionary.com)... and these people are often the revenge raters. I'm all for giving a justification for rating something NH or SH, but if I look at the previous 5 or 10 reviews list and almost all of them have a NH or SH overall rating - then I think it's a safe bet the person just really put little effort into writing the review (especially if the review has no punctuation, is one big paragraph, or/and has less than 10 sentences).
Certainly I will sometimes check for any other details about the reviewer if they have any on their profile page. For example I came across a very young girl who wrote game reviews so I understood why the reviews were not up to par with what the majority of others can produce on here, so I'm more generous with my rating. The last thing I want to do is give someone a SH or NH if they genuinely tried to write a half-decent review. And I would enjoy helping out in any way if they took a look at my reviews for ideas - or even emailed me with questions or something. I would be more than happy to assist in any way I can. I absolutely get a kick out of this place.
But if you are one of those people who feels you have been wronged by my NH or SH (or even H or VH, hey you never know - maybe the person felt I was too easy on them rofl!), then bring on the revenge raters! I still earn money for those so I really don't mind that much (and they tend to stand out like a sore thumb if I have 50 VH ratings, and 1 SH rating)!!!
