Pros: It prints on CD. Print photos without a computer.
Cons: Not photo quality, slow, costly.
The Bottom Line: If you need to print on CDs save a few bucks and go with the R200. Otherwise look at Canon or HP for photo printing.

| alopeke's Full Review: Epson Stylus Photo R300 InkJet Printer |
I bought this printer as a replacement and upgrade to my Epson C82. I should of learned my lesson with the Epson 820 and Epson C82. I chose this printer so I could print on CDs and it offered photo quality prints and blazing fast prints. The only truth to that statement is that it prints on CDs and even then you are lucky if it works. I didn't mind the quirks it had with the CD printing. I could live with that. But of course all this other stuff went wrong when it was out of its warranty period.
CD Printing:
For the first week I went through and printed a simple text label on on my CDs that I had laying around. These are the inkjet printable CDs. After about 10 CDs the transport tray started having problems and I had to help it along. So I took it back to the store. The other one started doing the same thing. Till this day I still have to help the CD tray along so it will print. It also needs help ejecting the tray.
Lightning Fast Prints:
I don't notice any difference between this and my former Epson C82. It still takes about 18 seconds for black text on plain paper. And that isn't including the processing time once the computer sends the print from the print spooler to the printer. It seems to hold the document in its internal memory for a while before it decides to print.
Photo Quality Prints:
HAH! Yea right. I was so excited to try this out. 6 color inks and a pack of Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper. Every single print has banding. Cleaning cycle after cleaning cycle will produce one good print and then you need to clean the heads again. Of course the cleaning cycle wastes ink. Ink is expensive. Is it possible that Epson makes you have to do all these cleaning cycles so you spend more money on ink? Hmmm.... And they are not fade resistant. After about 5 months you will notice them start to fade and close to a year all the blacks look reddish and the colors start to fade.
So basically it is a disposable printer that prints on CDs if you help it. Otherwise prints fade, its not any faster than the competition, banding in the photo prints, CD transport mechanism to print on CD needs to be helped along to print, internal processing slow, and it splatters ink all over the inside of the printer.
