I think peapod is a great idea! It's a grocery home delivery service you access by ordering over the internet, and they delivery the groceries the next day to your home. My sister told me about it as she's a busy Mom & she and her husband love it. She said they figured it was worth the time saved.
I have used peapod service a few times. I used it in the spring when I was particularly busy and the extra time/less hassle aspect was exactly what I needed. It's quick and easy if you find yourself pressed for time, don't feel like going out, are health compromised, are vehicle compromised etc.
Start the process by going onto peapod.com. They start out by showing you the specials which is very helpful. If you want to buy something, just click on it and it'll ask how many of this item you want. Type that in & on to the next item.
The products are sorted into different categories, like the aisles in the grocery store. The categories include produce, meats, frozen foods, health foods, breads, canned products etc. Each category has many product choices as the grocery store does. The choices are almost as vast as the store. They feature the main staples, but I think they lack in "different" type foods which I like. The choices were lacking as compared to going into the store when it came to frozen foods, vegetarian foods, and ethnic foods.
I do actually enjoy going grocery shopping as it gets me out of the house! I'm a stay at home mom, so maybe you can relate? I prefer to see the wider variety of foods available in the market, but use peapod myself when I am having an extremely stressful or busy week.
The delivery time you can choose. At the end of your order you are asked which of many listed you would prefer. Times are grouped like into different slots during the day and some slots are discounted by $1.00 - $2.00. I guess these discounted times are the ones less people want. The delivery is set-up for the time you choose the next day.
The next day during your allotted time, you wait at the house. The delivery person comes to the door & brings all the groceries into the house! That alone is worth it for me!! You then give him/her a tip and it's done! Time to unpack and put away.
The food I received was fresh, and neatly packaged. Well worth the slight delivery fee. ($4.95 for me @ $150./different costs for different dollar amount spent). I only had an order off once. They brought me the wrong item instead of the one I chose. They said they can fix that online for you, but I actually think I forgot (oops!).
The delivery person gives you a receipt so you can check to see if you received everything on your order. I also got coupons for future orders that can be subtracted right when the order is totalled online.
