There is an option in speakers that is often overlooked or simply sneered at by a lot of self-appointed audio experts: the electrostatic speaker. Before you commit to a new speaker system, listen to some electrostats. I have owned a pair of Martin-Logans for some years now (this is just one manufacturer of electrostatic loudspeakers, and I have no idea which brand is best for anyone), and I believe they offer virtues that are not appreciated simply because so few people have heard what this technology can do. Don't let anyone talk you out of giving electrostats an audition -- you will hear more nonsense about this type of speaker than you hear lies from politicians and preachers. There has been too much written about speakers in all the magazines and on the web, and there is no way all of it can equal five minutes of listening. Hear what these speakers do with music.......don't read about them, don't ask anyone about them, don't debate about them., don't research them.....just have enough curiosity, and faith in yourself, to go listen to music through them. Don't believe ANYONE, including me, about what these speakers do. Go find out for yourself.  |
