After waiting a few weeks for buy.com to receive new shipments of the Nikon 5900 digital camera, I decided to cancel my order because a special event was approaching that I wanted to be ready for with a digital camera. After searching for a few days I settled for a site known as Profeel.com. This was one online merchant that I had never heard of, but a combination of the lowest price I could find with a five star rating was one that can’t be reckoned with.
The Site
Profeel.com is a reputable dealer that specializes in consumer electronics. While browsing the site, you will notice that they stock hundreds of digital cameras, camcorders, DVD players, VCR players, and television sets, just to name a few items they specialize in. And I must also mention that their accessory inventory is top notch as well. But a wide selection of items doesn’t necessary attract buyers these days. What attracted me to this site was the fact that their prices were very low and that most of their orders are shipped the same day. Another important thing for me was that all of their items are guaranteed to be brand new and come with the manufacturer’s original warranty. Their site is easy to navigate and is fairly user-friendly, although it might not look as attractive at first glance as some other merchants might.
Ordering Items
Locating the item that I was looking for was very easy, and I immediately placed the camera into my virtual shopping cart. There were a few attractive packages that included the camera with a few accessories for a low price that caught my eye, but I had already received a memory card from buy.com, so I decided to order just the camera for a low price of $242.90. I proceeded to the checkout, where I filled out some forms with my personal information. The last screen said that I would receive a confirmation by email or telephone the following business day (just my luck as I had ordered on a Friday).
On Monday morning, I received a phone call from a woman working for Profeel.com. I was a tad surprised as I had never received an order confirmation via telephone, but this representative was very courteous and told me that my item would be shipped the same day. She also asked me if I wanted to add any accessories or an extended warranty to my order just in case I had forgotten to earlier. Overall, this showed me that their customer service was terrific.
The shipping rates on this site are higher than usual, as normal ground shipping is $9.95. Priority ground will cost you an extra $10, 2nd day air is $20 more than normal ground, while overnight is a hefty $39.95. Ordering multiple items will add even more to your shipping charges. However, by ordering via the link on Epinions, I managed to get free shipping. Also, there is no sales tax unless you are getting your order delivered to the state of New York.
Receiving Items
The following day at around 3 PM I received a package – my camera had arrived. The item was packaged well, it was brand new and I was very happy with my experience with this site. Profeel claims that they deliver most of their packages within 3 business days, and this was exactly the case with me. There’s nothing better than being promised fast shipping, and then actually having it delivered on time or even earlier. My only minor quirk was that Profeel promised that I could track my shipment online, but I never received a tracking number from them.
Overall, ordering a digital camera through Profeel.com was a very pleasant experience. I found their site very easy to navigate, and because of their wide selection I was able to find the item that I was looking for. Their prices are very low, although the shipping charges could run up the bill if you’re not careful. I was very pleased with their customer service and the shipping was as fast as can be, even with normal ground shipping. I am pleased that I chose to do business with this merchant, and it is very likely that I will order from then again in the future.
