When I started looking for a treadmill to purchase I was completely astonished at some of the prices. I had the chance to pick up one for about $800.00 when my gym purchased new ones but after seeing how badly they were abused by other members I decided that it would probably be best if I purchased a new one for a few hundred dollars more. The biggest problem with buying something as large as a treadmill is getting it delivered - some sites wanted an arm and a leg to get it to my doorstep then an extra fee to set it up. Hey, if I can put a home gym together in less than three days I think I can set up a treadmill. I eventually went with EVO Fitness after talking to some people at the gym who had experience with their products. No one had ordered anything from the website but they did say, over and over, that EVO products are some of the best on the market and they also make industrial stuff for public and corporate gyms. If I am going to spend close to $1,500.00 on something like a treadmill then I want a company that is going to stand behind it if something happens to it.
The site sells treadmills, home gyms and elliptical trainers but it isnt a huge site so getting through it isnt difficult at all. There is a ton of information about all the items that they sell and if you have any questions, call their customer service team for more help. Some sites make you call in to get prices on things but most of the stuff at the site has the prices listed on the page. A lot of the times the other sites arent trying to hide the prices from you but they want you to call in so they can try to make the sale. When I did call EVO I didnt get any type of pressure, if anything, they asked me what other treadmills I looked into and asked me what exactly I needed from the equipment. When I told the rep what I wanted he suggested a model that was a couple hundred dollars cheaper - when did you ever hear of a company suggesting that you spend less money?
The Big Purchase
When I finally figured out what I wanted from the website I wasnt sure where it was going to ship from but lucky for me they had a local authorized dealer that could deliver it within 24 hours if I needed it quickly. That saved me a ton of money and they guys that dropped it off went above and beyond the call of duty by offering to carry it in to the house and to my home gym. I picked the FX2-M Folding Treadmill that cost $1,299.00 - now, that might sound like a lot but it does have a ton of features like a wide track tread surface, wireless heart monitor and a LCD window that displays the time, pulse, calories burned and distance. I really liked that it came with a ten year warranty for the motor, 5 years for the belt assembly and 1 year for labor plus a lifetime warranty for the body. I could have saved some money if I would have went with the FX2 instead of the FX-M the extra features on it were more than worth it.
When it arrived the guys who delivered it were very nice; Id prearranged for them to bring it into the house but didnt opt to have them assemble it. When I saw the set up I changed my mind about it and asked them if they could put it together for me. They were on a pretty tight schedule and had a couple more deliveries to make but they said that if I wanted then to, they could come back after the rest of their deliveries and they would do it then. The normal price for an assembly is between $50.00 and $100.00 but we worked out another deal ... get your minds out of the gutter, it wasnt a flesh trade. I was making some lasagna and they said that theyd charge me $40.00 for the assembly if they could have half the tray of lasagna. Hey, that worked for me. They came back when they were done, did the assembly and had dinner with us. Thats one of the only reasons that I am not mentioning the name of the store it came from because they said that if management found out, theyd get fired on the spot.
If you are getting it delivered from a local authorized dealer then make sure you work out a time that everyone is agreeable on; some places will charge you double if you arent around or if they need to come back for a second attempt. You will also want to know up front if they are the people you will be dealing with if there are any problems. In hindsight I should have called in to schedule an official install so that if there was anything wrong with the way they set it up I wouldnt be to blame. They did a perfect assembly and tested it out for a while to make sure everything was working correctly. It didnt take them more than 30 minutes to get everything together and they did hang around a while to show me all the features. So to my two knights in somewhat shining armor .. many thanks!

Shipping
In most cases shipping is included in the price of the item but you will want to read the fine print to make sure. Pennsylvania and New jersey residents are charged sales tax and theres no way around that. If your item is being delivered from a local dealer then it shouldnt take more than a few days to arrange things but if it is coming from EVO then you may have to wait up to a week to receive it. The authorized dealer that delivered mine was prompt, very friendly and came back later to assemble it [for a half tray of lasagna that is].
Return Policy
The site gives you a thirty day return period whether your item is shipped from an authorized dealer or from one of their warehouses. In order to make a return you must obtain an RMA [return merchandise authorization] number from them. Do not ship something back to them without this number! They wont accept the package and you will have to pay the shipping fee to get it back to you. To cut to the chase the best thing to do is to call them and see what needs to be done to get the item back to them. Use this number to go right to the RMA center - [888] 987-3237. Once you get your RMA you have ten days to get it back to them [or the dealer that delivered it] or the RMA becomes void and you have to start over. You may want to call them once you have the piece in transit and give them the carrier name, tracking number and anticipated time of arrival.
The Bottom Line
I am really happy that I went with EVO; everyone that I talked to when I was looking into buying a treadmill had nothing but good things to say about the product and the company. The website is easy to navigate through and everything is pretty cut and dry when ordering. I was a little worried about my credit card being processed since I do have a daily spending limit but I did call them to tell them that I was making a large purchase, the company name and a ballpark figure of what it would be and they said that they would allow it when the request came through. When I had to call them about the screen not working correctly they gave me a quick fix for it and even called back two days later to see if there were any more problems with it. I may have only purchased one thing from the site but it was what I would call a large purchase. I was treated with respect when I called to check the status of the order and given the local dealers name and number and I do have to say this - any time I called the reps never let me off the phone until they asked me if I had any more questions or needed any more help. Customer service like that is hard to find these days!
As always, thanks for the read!
