When ever I see an advertisement for Sportmart I think of the movie Evil Dead II. The main Character, Ash, works at a store called “S Mart” and his famous line from the film is, “Shop Smart, Shop S Mart”. So if you are wondering about the title, there’s your explanation. Sportmart is a huge site that carries almost anything and everything for your sporting needs. It’s a great place to shop for the sport fanatic in your life and if you can’t find something for them then do the next best thing - get them a gift certificate. They are available in denominations from $25.00 to $250.00 and are a nice thing to give that someone special. The site is extremely easy to navigate through and there’s no pop up advertising for other sites. So far I haven’t gotten any unwanted mail from them and they never sell your private personal information to anyone. It’s an all ages site with no “adult” or questionable material so it’s 100% safe for kids to browse.
Selection
One of my favorite sections of the site has to be the clearance section - there is no telling what you can find there and some of the prices that they list stuff at really makes you look twice to make sure you are seeing things correctly. They carry everything from fishing and camping supplies to stuff to spoil your favorite outdoorsman [or woman]. But the site isn’t limited to just that kind of stuff, you can also pick up collegiate items, exercise equipment, golf related products and even Pilates. It’s a well rounded site that carries almost everything and anything for your sporting needs. I picked up some really nice clothes for the gym in the clearance section a year or so ago and was kicking myself for not ordering more sport bras from them when I had the chance. They also have things for baseball, football, basketball, soccer and paintball. Chances are, if it is a sport, you will be able to find something for it at the site.

Shipping Fees
Since most of the stuff I order from the site isn’t time sensitive I usually go with the cheapest. Fees are calculated according to the weight of the item and where it is being shipping. I haven’t ordered anything that has required a freight delivery but they do offer that service if you are placing a large order or for some thing that standard ground delivery can’t accommodate. Most of my orders cost between $8.00 and $12.00 to ship; most of the orders weighed between 4 and 20 pounds so I didn’t feel like I was getting ripped off. since things are calculated according to weight and your zip code it is impossible to have a list of the fees at the site of what the shipping fees will be; you can check the shipping charges in your shopping cart before you process and pay for your order so if something is going to cost too much to ship you can remove it before you complete the transaction. If you need your order in a hurry they do offer expedited delivery; anything from Three Day to Overnight. Call their customer service department or check the appropriate boxes when you are ordering an item to see the charges.
Payment Options
The site accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express and The Discover Card. I couldn’t get any information about whether or not they accept checks or money orders but if you can’t pay with a credit or debit card you can call them to see if they are accepting those methods or if you can use PayPal. You can also pay for your order with a gift certificate if you received one of them and doing this is extremely easy. I used my Visa and debit MasterCard for purchases at the site and never had any trouble with them being processed, approved or any type of error in the billing amount. Most of the time you will have to enter your CCV [credit card verification] number so make sure that you have that handy. When I used my Visa I didn’t have to enter one but with my debit MasterCard I did.
Return Policy
Sportmart gives you 30 days to return an item which is pretty much the industry standard. Shipping fees are not refundable unless it was an error on their part. If something is defective the same policy is in effect. You may want to call them first to make sure it is really defective if you aren’t sure how the item is supposed to work. There is detailed information on how to return something on the packing slip but if you can’t send this make sure you write the order number on the box as well as enclosing it inside with your reason for return and all other necessary information. If it is something of value make sure that you send it insured and it never hurts to get delivery confirmation so you can track the package and make sure it gets where it is going.

The Bottom Line
Sportmart is sort of like a Wal-Mart for sports. It carries things for all the major sports like baseball, soccer and basketball but they don’t neglect those that are into skateboarding, golf, tennis and yoga. Shipping is pretty quick depending on where you live and all the things that I have received so far have been nicely packaged. You get a 30 day return period and customer service is always more than happy to help you if you have questions about an order or a product. I really like the fact that they offer gift certificates; if I am stuck on what to get someone I can order one and have it sent directly to them so they can pick out what they really want or need. They really do carry something for everyone - just ask my son - he found one of the skateboards he’d been looking for at the site when everyone else said that it was discontinued and no longer available anywhere. I don’t really have a single section that I stick with - but the clearance and sale sections are the first ones that I hit. Check them often, you never know what bargains you will find!
