Pros: Very calm, very professional. Sapped the fight right out of me!
Cons: Not customer service's fault, but they should get a better handle on their billing.
The Bottom Line: Their billing department screwed up, and the customer service person whom I spoke with today made it right.

I wrote previously to tell of SunCom's shutting off of our service with no notice, and after receiving three bills which showed a zero balance. After reviewing two revised bills which were faxed to us after the shutoff (showing a balance of $519!), I noted errors in the bill, and phoned the company. I spoke with a man named Ian. I told Ian the whole sordid tale, and he put me on hold. After a few minutes, he returned and told how he would correct this situation. First, he had already re-activated the phones. Then, he credited for the upcoming re-activation fee, for the free month of service we should have had coming to us (this had been promised when we set up the service for screw ups in that process!), for late fees, for an overcharge of our new telephones, and an extra $50 for our troubles. He was very calm in the face of me being pretty steamed. The bill was adjusted to around $289, and I was transferred to the billing department where I paid immediately by credit card. I was impressed by Ian, as I started the day feeling like there was nothing SunCom could do to make me feel better after such a large series of errors. I finished feeling like we had been treated fairly, although I still don't understand why our service was shut down yesterday afternoon--after receiving a bill with a zero balance that day in the mail! Whew! Well, I suppose mistakes happen, and I am delighted that Ian was able to make it right without my having to fight SunCom today.
