Cons:Cooling fan is noisy
The Bottom Line: Definitely the way to go, Dell's great customer support has proven itself to me. They go the extra mile to make sure you're satisfied.
I purchased my Dell V400 back in March, 1999 and knock on wood, it's still providing me hours of computing enjoyment. When I purchased my desktop, I was able to customize my unit by selecting the memory size, hard drive space, processor speed, etc. and their customer service rep made it so simple.
I bought the hard drive, keyboard, mouse, and speakers, for $1535 plus shipping. I bought a monitor at a later date, since I already had an old monitor. I use my PC mainly for keeping track of personal finances (Intuit Quicken) and for surfing the Web.
The CD-ROM drive died on me about a month ago but was still covered under Dell's warranty. They mailed me a replacement drive within two days! Their technical support is fabulous!! The best way to get results is to get technical support using e-mail. Forget the phone, you'll never get thru!
This unit has a Pentium 2 processor, which I think are better than the Celeron's. I highly recommend getting a Dell. The ordering process is quick and efficient. Their customer service is second to none and their PC's are made to last!
