Really? (Reply to this comment)

In other reviews, you praise JBL for its quality build and sound. In this review, you slam Harman/Kardon. Does the quality really vary that much from one division to the other? BOTH JBL and Harman/Kardon are owned by Harman International.

One comment about Aiwa. I had an Aiwa before I bought the Yamaha that I have now. In general, I agree that the Yamaha sounds much cleaner and more accurate. However, the Aiwa that I had previously, with the Bass boost engaged put out way more bass (Albeit less accurate bass) than the Yamaha does with the bass turned all the way up. I'll grant you that there were a lot of things about the Aiwa that I didn't like. And the general construction quality was pretty bad, but I never really had problems with the loudness.
But then, I've only had the Yamaha for a few days. I really haven't had time to really try out all of the features.

I agree with you re. Aiwa and Panasonic. Thanks for giving the heads-up about the other brands - I'll steer clear!
Strangely, the best audio receiver I've ever owned (besides my MP3 player, go figure) was an old Sony from about 1976. Great sound, cheap, lasted twenty years!

.........be the lucky one, since I have only ever bought Technics receivers, and have always been more than happy with the performance. Usually, I only upgrade for more features.
Anyway, you said what you thought pretty well!
