resonate to this day. We may have new blood around here, but your sentiments are just as relevant.

Though I didn't know you when you were active here, I'm so glad your reviews and spirit are still with us on the site.

Rest in peace,

GOODBYE MARK (Reply to this comment)

Mark lost his battle far too young and much too quickly on the evening of Tues., Oct. 9....thanks for the support you all had shown him in his two month fight...it helped him keep the sense of humor and determination you all knew him for.

This dern thing won't let me give you Most Helpful twice for some inexplicable reason but I wanted to. I tried and guess I reached my quota of some sort. Know I wanted to give you Most Helpful because you are an inspiring soul and I can't wait to read more from you!

If there is healing power in the number of warm wishes one receives during times of pain and sorrow, then you should be overwhelmed with such power. As by now you know full well, you have only our best wishes, our warm thoughts, and for those who practice such rituals, our prayers.

Miracles (Reply to this comment)
by green1
I came across your profile while reading a hilarious review of Playgirl Magazine by your friend, jankp. I went from laughing my a$$ off to having a genuine lump in my throat. Let me tell you of two miracles:

1. My uncle had a severe stroke in April. He was comatose and on a feeding tube. The doctors said he was definitely going to die. We went with my aunt to the hospital to say goodbye to him and everything. Well, he kept on improving against all odds, and he is now running and playing tennis like it never happened. It's obviously different from cancer, but I thought you might be inspired by it. I'm sure you know something about the power of prayer and positive thinking.

2. My saintly wife gives blood on a regular basis, but I've never done it because I am TERRIFIED of needles (I mean eyes-as-big-as-baseballs petrified). Thanks to your story (particularly your description of the transfusion in the EndCancerNow review), I am trying to psyche myself up to give blood donation a shot (pardon the pun). Yes, the second miracle was caused by you. Don't feel obliged to respond to this message; you have enough going on already. Just take whatever inspiration you can from what I've written, and be well.

of goodwill and affection from this caring epinion community just before and after my back surgery a few months back..I was astounded and felt a deep warmth that was hard to describe.

As I see what is going on here now in your honor and because of the love and respect felt for you it just touches my heart so deeply I just cant express it the right way.

I'm another who's thoughts and prayers are with
you and the recovery you are going to have..

You will be forever changed by this experience. You'll find joy in the oddest places and you'll learn things you never wanted to know. You will be a blessing to many of those in your path - and be blessed in return. Thanks for your words of comfort when I was diagnosed last year -- I'll be praying for you this time around.

Ian Gawler is an Aussie cancer survivor who in 1975 was given weeks to live. In 2001 he is an inspiration to thousands of people and heads up the Ian Gawler Foundation. In his book You Can Conquer Cancer he talks about the changes he made to his lifestyle which ultimately had him defying expert medical opinion. The following link gives an overview of Ian Gawler. Maybe you might find what he has to say interesting. http://hillofcontent.bizland.com/iangawle.htm

My thoughts... (Reply to this comment)
by heidifromoz
are with you. I don't know you, but a good friend of mine on here suggested I read some of your things. Only now have I got round to doing it. I didn't know what to expect, but it certainly wasn't this. I have no idea how it must feel, and I wish I could give you some comfort. However, Australia is a long way away, and this is the best we can do, right? Having said that, I wonder if I could make a suggestion? I recently learned Reiki, which is a hands-on healing technique perfected by the Japanese, and now everyone is able to access it. My Reiki Master told me that people with cancer could derive a great deal of benefit from this as well as people in their every day lives - it was natural, soothing, calming and while it cannot "heal" per se, does have great therapeutic value. This is just a thought and while I know we have so much wonderful technology in the West, Eastern medicine also has a lot to offer. Why not check it out? I don't expect a response, I realise you have over 100 to deal with! besides which there is something wrong with my email address, but if you do want to know more, or be in touch, I would feel very privileged: heidifromoz@hotmail.com. I'm not a believer, but I shall pray as best I can. Heidi.

I don't know you at all but I'd like to say that through reading your reviews, I can easily see why you are such an asset to the Epinions community. Please don't give up -- I'm sure you have a lot of fight in you. I'm not even a particularly religious person, but my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Take care!

I think it is an awesome wonder how many people you have affected here at epinions. Only today I have just meant you through your reviews and already you have affected my life.. Solely upon the fact that so many people are reaching out to you.. It makes me get all warm and fuzzy inside thinking of how strong our human compassion really is, and I think this incident alone has restored my faith in the good hearts of mankind.. I wish you the speediest recovery and may you continue to spread sunshine..

I do not know you, but I have to tell you that I am so sorry about what has happened to you. My mother's best friend is also suffering from cancer, and seeing her hair fall off is just a depressing sight.

Having the bravery to write 2 reviews based on your diagnosis is something that not many people on this site can do.

Anyway, I wish for all the best and you are in my prayers.

God Bless You,

We haven't even exchanged comments as far as I can remember, but I have loved your pet reviews, and I need to remind you: the cat came back. After you posted your review about losing Zeuss, and many people focused on him, he came back.

How many more people are now focused on you, sending you their love and good wishes?

the power of love and faith (Reply to this comment)

can work miracles where hope seems lost. Mark, when I joined Epinions over a year ago, your name was one of the first I heard that was an outstanding writer, humorous beyond words! I haven't written much lately, so I was surprised to hear about your situation. I have sat here and read these two essays, and have been moved deeply. You no doubt are a fighter, and will overcome what you must. You don't have to do it alone, you have proof of so many friends supporting you, holding you up. Prayers are like little rays of light going up, up, up. Hang in there, and give it all you've got, and we will help too!

love is what we are here for. Even this unwelcome health report became a key to unlock all the love that is around you. Take all these posted messages to your heart. Embrace them. Let them be a part of your healing. You are loved, as we see by so many of the comments here. You are still who you were before you received this information. Fight back with more information. If there is a medical school near you, avail yourself of their library and get the latest information on your condition. No reason you can't know the same things the docs know. Hit the internet. Visit a holistic or alternative healer, one that is reputable with an established practice, and see what options you may have in your treatment. Your fate is not sealed. Healing is possible. When you visit your regular doctors, go in with a written list of questions. Don't let them pressure you into a snap decision. Contemplate their advice; sleep on it. We are pulling for you, HTP. Dear Mark (Reply to this comment)
by Aphga
After chuckling through your RID review, I was stunned and saddened by your conclusion. Your wonderful sensitivity for others and great sense of humor made you special to me since my earliest days in Epinions.I will keep you in my prayers.

Now I must confess: I was diagnosed in February of this year with advanced non-Hodgkins lymphoma and have been undergoing chemotherapy. My bone marrow was so packed with cancer cells that my immune system was virtually nonfunctional. Since I have a strong interest in causes of illness and healing, I took the experience as an opportunity to learn more directly about my field of interest. I looked for the things in my life that contributed to my happiness and fulfillment and released those that did not. I searched deeply inside myself for a way to align myself with LIFE. I went on a roller coaster ride that went from a wish to dig a hole, crawl in and get it over with, to happiness and heartfelt gratitude for all the support those around me gave. Mostly, I tried to see my illness as an important part of my life experience and grow from it in whatever way I could. I tried with some success to eat more fruits, vegetables, and grains...less meat, dairy, and sugar. There is SO much information "out there" that it was hard to choose what to make a part of my regime. I tried to listen to my inner guidance. I took vitamins and supplements. I also looked at how I often try too hard and become less myself in doing so. I tried to identify and drop facades...be my true self. I did Chi Gong. I sought help from those who do "energy work" because I believe that illness starts in the energy levels. I did everything I could think of except during the short episodes of bleak depression I fell into when I simply stared. Two weeks ago I had repeat CT scans and a bone marrow that came out "99.9 percent NORMAL." One day I had cancer that threatened to end my life and the next my treatment was over. My bald head can grow hair again and, dang it, I've got to get back to work so I can pay some of these bills! I don't know what, of all the things I did were the most effective, but SOMETHING WORKED.

I wish for you a speedy healing despite the dismal prognosis. There's no telling how great the effect of all of us praying for you may be. Did you see the piece this week on TV about the heart surgeon who split his patients into two groups and had one group prayed for? They did markedly better that the group that was not prayed for. There are quite a few of us fellow Epinioneers to tip the scale in your favor.

If you are interested in the details of what I took and did to boost my immune system, or if you just want to chat feel free to email me.

Wishing You The Best (Reply to this comment)
by LEDOMAINE
We don't really know each other, Mark. However, I will keep you in my thoughts, my prayers.

While you were here, I don't believe we ever actually exchanged a comment, can't really say exactly why. I have a dim recollection about something that happened during my early weeks/months here. We came to Epinions, you and I, less than a month apart, however, I have no intimate memories of you. But, that's okay. Just take the best of care of yourself, and get well soon. May God bless and keep you and your family through this ordeal. Don't even think of giving up. He (or She) won't, if you don't.

Take care,

Rouchelle
