Are you in the market for a CD Writer, but you just don't know which one to buy? Let me help you out on this one. A couple of weeks ago I took a drive to my friendly neighborhood electronics superstore and walked over to the CD Writer section. I was overwhelmed at the many, many choices from Memorex, to Hewlet Packard, to a lesser known brand to me called BUSlink. There were numbers on each box indicating Write speed, ReWrite speed, and Read speed. I decided to ask for assistance and received some good advice. The gentleman working in this area told me not to be concerned so much with the brand name, but to be concerned with the speed and the price. I heeded his advice and walked out with a BUSlink 12x Write, 10x ReWrite, and 32x Read internal CD Writer. The advice I received turned out to be excellent as this product has delivered excellent quality CDs at speeds I'm comfortable with, for $99 with a $20 mail-in rebate for a total of $79. It writes CD-Rs (700MB/80min) in about 15 minutes with my system (I have an EMachines 333 Cyrix processor with an upgrade to 160MB of RAM). I'm sure the speed will vary for you, depending upon the speed of your system. In summary, The BUSlink CD-ReWritable Drive at 12x Write, 10x ReWrite, and 32x Read is an excellent buy! I fully recommend this one.  |
