The entire family should be aware of finances. A family working together makes budgeting easier.

Hi! I'm glad I read your work today! I can tell you are a very good money manager. This is an admirable quality and I think you're setting a good example for your kids. I myself have been known to hit the Wal-Mart for Christmas decorations on Boxing Day. My husband, like you, is thrifty. I have to admit, though, I don't always appreciate it when he slides into flat-out cheapness--this involves a not-so-funny stay in a motel he insisted on while we were driving home from our honeymoon. Anyway, great writing!

I want to thank all of you for reading! This is my favorite subject! The only part I did not add in was for "smokers" lol. I do not like to promote smoking although I do have that bad habit. The smoker's outlet stores will save you money, but also remember some of your local discount drug stores such as Marcs, Drug Mart, and at times K Mart will have great deals on name brand.

Big Hugz to all

Boy, are you a lot like me! I DIG for bargains all year round and in fact begin buying Christmas during "after Christmas sales". In fact, I JUST bought my 8 year old a Harry Potter bedspread, sheet set, 2 decorative pillows, a blanket, and throw for (get this) LESS than 90% off! And all because the HP movie is coming out in November...and with it a DIFFERENT design on the bedding! Who will know!?! Definitely NOT an 8 year old boy who is HP nuts!
I must admit though, I never thought to find bargains at the dollar store....we JUST got one in our town and I haven't made the trip in yet, but after your epinion......it's on my next shopping list!
Thanks for a great epinion! And.....HAPPY SHOPPING!

P.S. Here's one for YOU.....most Barnes and Noble bookstores are now having a "90% off the lowest price" sale on their "one of a kind" books right now! You can find some GREAT gifts there, if you dig! :-)

We sound a lot alike! :) My husband use to be ashamed that I shopped at the Dollar Store, Big Lots, Aldi's and Save-a-Lot, but after he saw the dramatic difference in cost, he quite complaining! :)

I can go to the dollar store and buy Klenex Cotinelle Toilet Paper, Tide detergent, Snuggle fabric softner and other numerous brand name items for almost half the cost as a GROCERY store.

Great review! Keep up the good work!

I SO need to go shopping with you. I have the feeling that you could teach me a lot and save me a lot as well!

Great review! I was laughing and learning! Thanks for the handy tips! We have several Dollar Stores around here, but I just assumed they only carried generics!

when it comes to overhead. Dollar stores are great (see my opinion on them). I particularly like the 99 Cent Store.

I rarely buy anything retail. Upscale closeout stores such as Marshall's a great sources for all kinds of things and if you wait long enough, everything goes on sale.

Buying grocery items with a coupon when it is on sale yields very low prices (see my opinion on coupons).

Thanks for showing us more about how to cut overhead! Great opinion!

I am always laughing at myself because I am teaching (inadvertently) my 4 year old to be frugal. I never realized she was picking up on my shopping habits until recently. When we go shopping she will ask "Mom, is that cereal on sale?" She also knows that there are certain stores where she can't get certain things, like cereal, because they just aren't as cheap as the other store.
It just cracks me up to hear her say "hey, can we get those fruit snacks if there on sale". I noticed the other day that she even recognized the sale tag on an item and said "hey, it's on sale". LOL
Good review.

This was an excellent review, and very realistic. At least it is here in where I live. People are needing to learn to pinch pennies more than ever.

I have already spent $300 on necessary school items for this month, and she wears uniforms. I have not bought anything that she did not need.

I need to pinch a few pennies to get caught up from this shopping excursion. I am still not done shopping for her either!?!
