Bottom Line: Bottom line is that flowers, leaves, grasses, herbs, are just an imagination away for preservation ideas for summer fun.

Hi, I hope you are enjoying your summer as much as I am! I have the most beautiful flower/rock garden for the first time in my adult life.

I am enjoying it so much, but the sad part is that the flowers will die soon and with hope they will arrive next spring to delight me again with their beauty. Until then, however, I am thinking of ways to preserve the memory..

This is the most exciting preservation project I have found.
Disclaimer (I did not make this up, someone told me about it, however it was years ago, and have no idea who it was at this point.) But I want to share it with you in my version and I hope you try it and enjoy it as much as I have.

It is also very easy and fast...these are the kinds I like..:)

Ok, if you don't have a flower garden, don't despair, there are plenty of wild flowers, leaves and fall is coming with the beautiful colored falling leaves...

Get out your Tee shirt, shorts, socks, table clothes, napkins, pillow cases, aprons, stationery (plain white paper, until you create your project) and anything else you can think of that will receive pigment.

You will need the following items:

1. A little hammer, or big one if you can't find a little one, I just think there is more control and less accidental hurts when you miss. But what ever it will work....
Bring your children to help....but YOU control the hammer, and let your children help in the designing department.

2. White paper towel...I guess the colored printed ones would work also, but have never tried them....
It is just to absorb the pigment and hold the flower/leaf in place.

3. I will use a "johnny jump up" and a pansy for the beginning and you can take it from there....I haven't found much luck with white flowers, dahhhh but I wonder about on a colored fabric, which I haven't found...

4. Now a cutting board or hard surface for underneath the fabric etc. so that you can pound away...

Now place the material you will use on the board, if it is a shirt or something, put the board between the fabric so it only holds the top of the fabric, because on thinner fabrics, like tee shirts, it will go through to the back...I know cause I tried it by accident without thinking...

Now place the flower and steam in the direction you want it to go, and the place you want to imprint.

Now put a paper towel over the flower. Hold as firm as possible, so the flower doesn't move.. You may want to practice on a scrap first until you get the hang of it..

Now with your hammer, Hammer firmly, all over the paper towel with the flower underneath securely....You will see the imprint on the towel, so you will know when it is done.

Now gently pick up the towel, and dust off any residue and look and admire your results... a beautiful imprint of your flower and steam....If you prefer just the flower just use the top of the flower... you are the designer...

Fall leaves are coming around the corner and they will work also...

Now you can use a fabric pen or magic marker to label or "frame" or elaborate...

Now isn't this fun and easy...

The one thing, I haven't gotten to and am not sure how to, but have some ideas....Washing may or may not remove your imprints, unless possible setting with vinegar, or stay fabric spray or something....that is why I suggest trial and error...

Of course, on paper and such, washing isn't an issue...so....Have fun and be creative and preserve your summer memories....

God Bless the flowers and the birds and the bees...enjoy what is rest of the summer.

enjoy!!!
