The Bottom Line Easy to make, very cost efficient, lasts forever!
Here is a great idea for those long rainy days when everyone gets bored just sittin' around! We're gonna make clay! SUPPLIES Doughy white bread...Weber's works great! Elmers Will Hold Glue Acrylic paints 1 large bowl Many small plastic bowls and... Just as many plastic zip lock bags Let's get started! Take the large bowl and break up about 10 slices of white bread...don't use the crust though! Next...take the Will Hold White Glue and squirt it all over the bread. Use at least half of a 4oz. bottle. Now...Stick your (or the kids) clean, ring-less hand into the mixture and squish it all together. Keep squishing until the bread and glue are totally mixed and you have a substance pretty much like clay. If for some reason your mixture is too dry...just add more glue. If it's too sticky...just add more bread. Separate the bread dough into equal amounts and put it in the plastic bowls. Using the acrylic paints....squirt about 2 tsp. of color into each bowl (making each a different color). Now...stick your hand in again and squish it all together. This clay is non-toxic...the kids can even eat it! It doesn't need to be baked to last...just let it sit long enough to dry completely. When the kids are done creating...stick each color into it's own bag, and put them in the fridge...where they will last for months! The objects de' art which are created with it will last a life time...I still have some little hand prints that were made for Fathers Day many, many years ago! Let's get those little "Sculpturer's" started early! ENJOY! |
