| pictureperfect's Full Review: George Foreman GGR50B Indoor Grill |
I've had my "George Foreman Indoor/Outdoor Electric Bar-B-Que Grill" for almost a year now. The reason I bought an "electric" grill is for ease of use. So far, it has lived up to that expectation.
Hubby and I had looked and looked at gas grills and could never decide on which one to buy, plus the problem of transporting the thing home was always an issue. (We don't own a truck and hubby didn't want the task of having to assemble the thing once it was home!)
We had also discussed buying one of the small counter top grills, you know, the "Lean, Mean Grilling Machine!" We decided that that wouldn't do what we were wanting, so imagine my surprise when I was out one day and found this Indoor/Outdoor Electric Grill. Without another hesitation, we decided this was for us.
This grill has a large, non-stick cooking surface that allows grease and fat to drip off and into a small grease pan. The handle on the large dome lid can be turned to allow steam to escape. The electric probe has 5 settings for the temperature. Our grill even came with a small, pamphlet type book with instructions and a few recipes for the grill.
The actual grill can either be placed on the stand, which is included with the grill, or it can be taken off of the stand and used indoors. I personally have not used mine indoors, as I prefer to keep mine on the stand and cook outside.
Also included with my grill was a meat fork and a spatula. These are to be used with the grill to keep from scratching the non-stick cooking surface.
We keep our grill stored inside of our carport storage area. Since it is an electric grill, I personally feel that for it to last longer, it should be stored away from anyplace where it could get wet. This grill should be used and stored on a flat surface.
Typically, we use paper towels to clean the cooking surface, once it has cooled. The need to actually "wash" the cleaning surface is very seldom, but does depend on what we have cooked, such as BBQ.
The only drawback to having an electric grill, is that you don't have that "grill" taste. I haven't tried using "liquid smoke" with my grill yet, but I might, just to see if that will give it a grill taste.
A big plus to this grill is that you don't have to keep a propane tank around. Plus, starting this grill is as easy as plugging in the cord and turning the temperature switch to the setting you need.
Overall, this is a good product and I've enjoyed using mine for nearly a year. By the way, we grilled steaks last night and they were GREAT!!!
