Cingular service is beyond terrible

Pros:Nice selection of phones
Cons:Non of them will work with this inferior service.
The Bottom Line: I've heard it said the definition of "insane" is one performing the same act while expecting different results. Why go there? Avoid Cingular.

After I moved to Texas and my old cell service was not, I had to find a cell phone service that could service the continental USA. I decided on Cingular for two reasons. First my employer had a corporate account with Cingular. Second, Cingular was in the process of merging with AT&T promising exceptional coverage. Over the past year, while I have paid every bill on time Cingular's likewise commitment has been anything but exceptional. I have lost count the number of times both my wife and I have called to inquire why the service coverage is so poor. I mean, just traveling down Vickery Ave in Fort Worth will cause no less that 3 dropped calls and well as garbled noise where there was once a human voice! Four V551 phones later Cingular sent me a V3 Razor only to discover that this phone does exactly the same thing. Customer service is anywhere from continuous apologies (with no results), to downright lies and rudeness. They refuse to give you any identification or extension number yet when you call back they not only ask who did you talk to last but what is their last name? However when you ask them for the same information they say company policy forbids them to give any information who they are or even what state they are located in. It is become abundantly clear to me that this "corporate smoke and mirrors" treatment is by design. If you cancel they want their money, no day in court for accountability, just turn everything over to the collection agency and be done with you, while all the while making politically correct statements to give the impression they, Cingular, care. I wonder if a class action lawsuit perhaps even the biggest one known to mankind is ready for the front stage and the news hungry press. Only time will tell. Meanwhile, I will run, not walk to my nearest Verizon on Monday to get my communication goals back on track. By the way, my employer also cancelled the corporate Cingular service for the same reasons including the poor customer service I mentioned above.
