The Bottom Line My best mix of albums for your island stranded needs.

Picking just 10 albums is an incredibly hard thing to do. I have only been alive in 2 decades, so this should not be as hard of a choice as for others. Most of my music, ok all, of my choices are from the 90's (except one). If I could only have 10 albums I would make sure I have a good mix, being on a desert island listening to one genre of music would get a bit old in a few weeks. So, without further ado, here is my list.

10. Ben Folds Five - Whatever and Ever Amen
This album is the best piano pop offering there is. It is just so upbeat for the most part, and has a few mellow songs here and there to change the tone. Whenever something good is going on in the island this would be playing. Also great to go to sleep with. If you want to read more about this album, check out my review on it.

Songs I would listen to the most:
Brick
Evaporated
Song for the Dumped

9. Ludacris - Back For The First Time
Pretty drastic change eh? From piano pop I go to a Dirty South rapper, but this CD would give me great comedy on the island. While it might just be dumb to some, I love the comedy on the album. After a hard day this would help me relieve some anger by listening to some smooth beats.

Songs I would listen to the most:
Southern Hospitality
Ho
What's your Fantasy?

8. Weezer - Weezer
The first true rock/alternative choice on my list, is a great album that put Weezer into fame. Once again, like Ludacris, Weezer, at least in this CD, adds a little comedy. Not to often to you hear songs about sweaters??

Songs I would listen to the most:
Undone: The Sweater Song
Buddy Holly
Say it Aint So

7. Five Iron Frenzy - Live: Proof that the Youth are Revolting
Probably the least none pick out of all my albums, Five Iron Frenzy is a great Christian Ska/Alternative band (very upbeat), that once again (see a theme) uses humor. A classic of the group is a song about Different Strokes. This album would also help me keep my faith, I would need it on a desert island.

Songs I would listen to the most:
Every New Day
It's Not Unusual
Blue Comb

6. Warren G - Regulate...G Funk Era
In my mind the best Rap CD ever. This is old school and I have had it for years but still love to listen to it. This is what they call G funk era, this gangsta groove, or whatever you know, to me it is just good music. It has a lot of bass, a lot of Nate Dogg, and a lot of great music. This album would be good pretty much at any time on the island.

Songs I would listen to the most:
Regulate
Do You See
And Ya Don't Stop

5. Blink 182 - Take Off Your Pants and Jacket
The newest album on the island, might be one of the best track for track. I could listen to this CD through and through, over and over, for a while and not be tired of it. It does not the punk feel like the older Blink 182 and is a bit more poppy, but I like it. Along with my number one pick, this CD might be played the most.

Songs I would listen to the most:
First Date
Everytime I Look for You
Reckless Abandon

4. Pearl Jam - Ten
This is way back into the 90's here, and one of the best, if not the best alternative albums ever. Too bad that Pearl Jam could not follow Ten, but nonetheless, Ten is a great album I would listen to on the island a good deal. Eddie Vedder's voice sounds just fine to me, and his song writing is not that bad either.

Songs I would listen to the most:
Jeremy
Even Flow
Alive

3. James Taylor - Greatest Hits
Good ole JT has the oldest album of the whole group and provides a great soothing voice to the island. James Taylor is great in two ways: one, he is an excellent guitarist and performer, and two, he writes his own music, a real rarity. Overall, great acoustics and the whole deal. This album is great from beginning to end, and would take the tension out of a tough day.

Songs I would listen to the most:
Gone to Carolina
Something in the Way She Moves
Steamroller

2. Counting Crows - Across a Wire-Live in New York (VH1 Storytellers Disc)
If you can nont tell from my previous Five Iron Frenzy I love live albums, they are just great, the energy and the crowd and everything. This is one of my all-time favorite live albums. This album is really a double disc, and so if I must, I will take the VH1 Storytellers Disc over the MTV Live at the 10 Spot (probably the only time I have ever picked VH1 over MTV). Both discs are great, but the blue VH1 album is a classic. It starts out with just Adam and Dave and then the other members slowly join, song by song, it is kind of cool. This album is pretty much all acoustics and piano, which is great, and the songs from previous Counting Crows albums are redone to a more mellow, soft sound, which works out greatly. I could listen to "Have You Seen Me Lately," over and over, it is just a great peaceful song.

Songs I would listen to the most:
Have You Seen Me Lately
Mr. Jones
Round Here (and a hidden track after the last song)

Now my number one pick for life on the stranded island is.......................................................

(drumroll)

1. Dave Matthews Band - Live at Red Rocks (Disc 1)
Surprise surprise, I picked another live album. Now this one is just awesome though, great and everything else you could describe it with. The best band ever, and I decided to pick just my favorite album, although I could have easily picked them all. Once again, I have a double disc here, so to be fair, I'll pick one of the two discs. Very tough choice here, but I will go with..1, no 2, umm, ok I will take Disc one. The crowd and vibe in this album is just awesome, and every aspect of the band, the drums, the sax, the violin, the guitar, the bass, everything just clicks in Red Rocks, and it is amazing. This album is flat out awesome, the best ever, well for me you know.

Songs I would listen to the most:
Recently
Dancing Nancies
Two Step

If I happen to get to take a few more I would bring along.....:
Lauren Hill, Miseducation of Lauren Hill
Wyclef Jean, Wycleftic
Stone Temple Pilots, Tiny Music Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop
Stevie Wonder, Greatest Hits
Third Day, Time
Switchfoot, New Way to Be Human
Fugees, The Score

Well there you have it, I know you disagree with some, or even all of my choices, or you might even agree. Leave me a comment or two to let me know what you think.
