Idiotic Write Off

The Bottom Line The challenge: Write a review on some form of entertainment while simultaneously 1) making an @ss out of yourself, and 2) actually providing legitimate information. Did I pass?
Okay you guys. You will not believe this awesome new band I just found. They must be brand spankin' new, because I couldn't even find a category to put this cd in, which is why it is in the WRONG category. I apologize. But can you believe that I just found this cd in a box of stuff that my mom was going to donate to the Salvation Army? What luck. Sometimes I think I must have some kind of special relationship with the music gods, because they are always making sure I am right on top of the hottest new thing. They must know how important music is to me, as well as how important it is for me to be the coolest kid on the block. I can't wait to show all my friends. They're going to be so impressed.
The band is called Enuff Z'Nuff. The cd I'm reviewing is a single called "Fly High Michelle". I've listened to the radio to try to hear it, but it must still be on the coasts and hasn't made its way into the midwest yet. And I thought maybe MTV would surely be on top of it, but they haven't been showing anything either. I just wanted to be able to put some faces to the music, you know, but MTV hardly ever shows videos anymore, so I guess I'm out of luck there. Never fear, though, even if mass media isn't going to make sure you guys know who the rockinest band alive is, I will.
Anyway. To the song.
I think this is some really deep stuff. Like I said, the song is called "Fly High Michelle". It's this beautiful rock ballad about a girl named Michelle, (obviously). Apparently Michelle died. The song is really touching. The singer, Donnie Vie, has this great heavy metal ballad voice. It almost sounds retro! Like they would have fit in well with bands like Motley Crue or White Lion. That's kind of weird, but what goes around comes around, I guess.
You can really feel the emotion in this song. It has that perfect rock-ballad mix of heavy guitars and drums, put together with a sweet, screeching voice.
Some of the lyrics are:
"Six o'clock in the morning,
Still sitting here pouring
The drinks till they're gone.
We did everything together,
Would have done it forever,
How did we go wrong?
I know that what goes up comes down,
I didn't know you'd hit the ground.
Why'd you have to give it up?
You were just a little girl.
I'll never look into your blue eyes,
Fly high Michelle."
I don't know if this is really about a little girl, or about a woman who overdosed or something. There aren't too many clues, but all I know is, I was moved when I heard it. I knew that this was going to be the next big thing. You thought Pearl Jam was big? Just wait. My favorite part of the song is the end where you can hear some beautiful violins or some kind of strings as the song fades out. Like I said, it's pretty deep in here.
The cover of the cd is really cool in itself. It looks like different colors of neon paint splashed on it, with graffiti-type lettering of the band's name in neon purple and green. It's tight. The back just gives you the basic information--song name, 4:16 minutes long, produced by Ron Fajerstein, etc. And there's some little copyright date of 1989, but that just must be the copyright date for Atlantic Records. It wouldn't make any sense for that to be the song copyright date.
Well, that's all I can really tell you about the awesome new band Enuff Z'Nuff. I hope you'll keep your eye out for them--they'll surely be climbing the charts fast!
