Pros:To me there is no pros, only cons....
Cons:A pain to adjust and is a waste of good material...
The Bottom Line: This is my first opinion that I have "Not Recommended" a product, that is how disappointed I was with this carrier.
First, I have to tell you that I am not a new mother, you could say that I am an old one maybe. Just recently I became a grandmother for the first time, and it is so much better than being a mother again at my age. Before this last back surgery, I had the pleasure of watching my grandson, Tucker Lee for a couple days a week.
His mother had the Baby Bjorn Carrier , probably gotten as a shower gift. Who would actually spend good money on something like this! I always carried my babies in my arm or resting on my hip, with some old cloth I could have made a contraption like this. You could be paying me for this worthless but expensive piece of material.
I got the Baby Bjorn Carrier out of my daughter-in-laws closet and at first was really excited about using it. After studying it for some time and reading all the directions, it was time for me to put my precious grandson in it and we were going to go for a walk outdoors. Tucker weighed about thirteen pounds then and was holding his head up well on his own.
The carrier is made of safe and strong 100% cotton, which is machine washable. The carrier can also be purchased with X-Large Straps. The regular size carrier fits adults that wear a size small - X-Large T-Shirt. The X-Large carrier fits adults that wear a size Large - XXLarge T-Shirt. There is a warning that Small and medium frame people should never use the X-Large straps as the carrier and infant will not fit securely enough against your body. If one parent is small and the other parent is large, X-Large straps can be purchased separately for $39.00.
This carrier is designed so you can carry your baby either inward or outward . Inward facing is for the newborn who needs support for his head and neck. It has adjustable straps and buckles that you adjust from the front as the baby grows. The carrier allows you to use your hands while the baby stays close and provides support for their neck and back. Sounds like the ideal carrier, not.... the trick is getting the baby in and out of this piece of cloth with buckles. Once you get it adjusted to your body, which I found difficult, now you must put the baby in. Since it was my first time, I choose the inward position.
One leg in and my grandson facing me, I went for the last leg. During this my bundle of joy is getting very upset but I am determined we are still going for our walk. Adjusting the last strap with a baby in this thing was for me very difficult. After the baby is in, the straps are harder to see to adjust. We're all fastened in and I feel as if I am suffocating him because he is so close. Yes, your hands are free but try and reach them around this carrier with a baby in it, is almost impossible. Whatever you do, don't drop the pacifier or chewtoy, you will never be able to bend down and retrieve it. If you are able to, trust me, you won't get back in a standing position.
Never made it out for our walk, I had baby Tucker screaming hysterically just putting him in and adjusting the one strap. Now it was time to get him out and how I did it without dropping him on the floor is beyond me. When his mother got home I had to ask her how she used this carrier and that I had a hard time with it. She said " I tried it one time and got so aggravated that I never tried it again". That's why it was up in the closet and wasn't out where you could get to it.
Conclusion
This piece of nice looking fabric must have been designed by He-Man, Master Of The Universe himself. Who else could get a screaming baby in this and take a trip outdoors, to the zoo, or shopping. In the short time I wore it I felt as if I were pregnant all over again and that was a nightmare alone....
