The Bottom Line I love to do crafts so I am always look for easy ideas that my 5 year old can help with.
I have a 5 year old son that can’t go to school this year due to cut off dates here in FL. So I’ve been thinking of several craft ideas for us to do at home. Some of these are holiday related crafts and others you can do just for the fun of it. Picture Frames Items needed Clear plastic picture frames (you can get these at the Dollar Store or Wal-Mart anywhere from $.50-$3.00 depending on the size you want to use) Beads, seashells, buttons, puzzle pieces, etc. (something to use as the theme of your picture frames) glitter -optional ribbon- optional glue or glue gun ( if you are using the glue gun make sure that you help the child. The glue is very hot!) Paint pens or permanent markers - to autograph or write sayings on the frame, dates, etc. How to begin After you have selected the items that you want to use on your frame. Arrange them how you want to glue and begin gluing them on the frame. Allow to dry and then you can insert a picture of your own or let the person you are going to give it to put their own picture in. In the past I have made several picture frames with puzzle pieces, buttons, and jewels. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Water Globes Items you will need Baby food jars water glitter any other floating objects you would like to add Plastic small figures you can glue to the top of the baby food jar if you want. Glue or sealant How to begin I have done this with just water and glitter. If you want to make it more creative you can glue a figure or small something to the top of the baby food jar lid (inside the lid) because the lid is going to be the base. You will want to fill the jar up with water, glitter, and anything else creative that you have found. Seal the lid on with glue or other type of sealant. This makes a unique inexpensive water globe. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ice Cream Cone Ornaments Items you need Ice cream cones (regular type) shiny ball Christmas ornaments - you can usually find some at the dollar store around Christmas time. Spray on snow sprinkles glue or hot glue gun hooks for the ornaments -or you can use ribbons instead of hooks especially if you are giving to young children. How to begin You will want to pick out the cones that are not crushed and sit them upright. Pick out the colorful ornaments and glue the ball into the cone with the holder where the hook goes facing up. You then want to spray some of the canned snow on the cone and add sprinkles to it while its wet. If the sprinkles don’t stick you can add a little bit of glue before the snow because the glue will dry clear. Or you can even use the glue with glitter in it. Then you can tie a ribbon on the top and give out with a little tag as gifts. I hope this helps get your mind going for several other craft ideas. If you need any help with the above. Please feel free to email me and I will try and help you out! |
