Take away the Jeepneys, and... (Reply to this comment)
by sibhreach
...Well, you could swear you're somewhere in the United States, yet you're in Makati. :) I used to live on the other side of Manila - in a subdivision, but when I was going to Uni, I was close enough for a few hours to spend time in the Megamall in Makati. The whole city is amazing and very ultra-high tech.
Glad you enjoyed your stay - even if it was only in the hotel. LOL
I love the Philippines...I miss it, dearly, in fact. :)

I'd Like to Buy a Vowel Please (Reply to this comment)

Pam-
It's doubtful that I'll ever visit Manila, but if my boss ever does send me there, you can bet I'm going to insist on this hotel. They sound so eager to please that I wouldn't just stop at requesting a Wheel of Fortune wheel- I'd ask them to provide Vanna White as well!...Mark

Memories.. (Reply to this comment)
by PacBayStat
We lived in the Philippines for five years. We go back all the time so my daughter can see her dad and sister along with some other relatives. We lived in Manila for about 6 months..hated it! The best place to go is Bagio City, if you ever get the chance to go back. The weather is just like it is here in Salinas except it rains almost everyday about 3pm.
I'll have to be sure to check out this hotel. I remember this one hotel we stayed in, we just came from Candon (where we were living at the time) to Manila. It was late and we were both tired from the 10 hour bus ride. We end up checking into a place that every room had themes. They came in about 2am to wake us up and have us move to another room because someone was going to pay more for the room that we were in (the jungle room) and so they moved us to the sailors/sea captains room.
We should have been tipped off what kind of place it was when they made us pay by the hour.
Also, when we first moved there, I was 19 years old and had never left California. We went to a Jolly Bees (like a McDonalds) and even they have armed men. Just about every place does, from fast food, malls, 7/11's to banks, hospitals and schools.
Great review, and I'm looking forward to checking out this hotel!
