DESIGNING CARDSTOCK FOR GREETING CARDS
Aug 21 '01
The Bottom Line What an interesting way to make different shaped greeting cards for no extra money.
Some times I get tired of just having square or rectangle card stock to work with for my greeting cards. There are ways to design your own. You will need:
1 - card stock, white or colored
2 - a circle stencil
3 - a heart stencil
4 - a cup stencil
5 - an exacto knife or good scissors
6 - rubber stamps for decorating the cards
7 - black ink pad
8 - colored markers
9 - ribbon
Let's start with the circle stencil. Fold a piece of card stock, lay the circle stencil on top of it leaving a small amount of the circle overlapping the fold. Cut out the circle up to but not including the fold area. After it is cut, you have a round card that opens for sayings inside.
I do the same technique with the heart stencil. With the cup stencil start the same way having the handle on the fold of the card stock. After you carefully cut the cup and handle, remembering not to cut on the fold, I fold the card stock at the inside of the cup handle - then glue just the handle. Now you can open and shut your card that is shaped like a cup.
Now it is time to decorate the circle, the heart, and the cup to your liking. Flowers and fruit stamped with rubber stamps; then colored with markers always perks up your card. On the handle of the cup I tie a small ribbon that matches some of your markers. There you have it - 3 different shaped greeting cards made with your own hands.
I hope that you like designing different shapes for your greeting cards. Enjoy!
