SSX is Bad....

Written: May 01 '01
Pros:Great Graphics, Awesome sound, Cool tricks, and good looking characters
Cons:Hard to master tricks, takes a long time to unlock everything.
The Bottom Line: GO GET IT!!! I have the whole CoolBoarders series and this blows that away by far. Ask your kids what they want for thier next birthday...

I am starting this review by saying that if you were lucky enough to get PS2, then you must run down to your local video game store and pick up SSX right now. Go aheah, I'll be waiting. What? The weather is too cold? Get used to -- you'll be played in the snow of SSX for a couple of weeks. You're too lazy to get it? Well, you can continue your laziness once you get SSX and play with it all day long.

As if you didnt figure it out yet, to me SSX is an awesome game. The speed is great, racing down the track at 100 mph. Trust me, when the framerate is 60fps then you'll know it's pretty fast and it shows in this game. You would think the graphics would flicker a little because of the speed - but it doesnt, because hey - it's PS2. The graphics are top notch with great detail in everything from the riders to the boards to the snow to the alpines.

Audio is awesome. This game is so much packed with sayings from the 8 different riders. Sometimes it's both clever and hilarious. Once, I heard Zoe say before the race began "All right class, let's play follow the leader" and i had to chuckle. The music fits perfectly into the game with
'pop'

Now, there is you and 5 riders all racing downhill to win a race. Can you do tricks? Of course -- there are the basics and then each player has 50 additional tricks. Wow, and the tricks come in handy. The more tricks you do, the more boost you can get to beat the others. There are 6-8 tracks or something near like that, and that is my only complain of the game. There are only 6-8 tracks, too little. But the tracks itself are HUGE. There are so many shortcuts to take it's amazing.

You really need to get SSX if you got ps2 this season. So if you havent already, go pick it up!
