OH NO!! DID YOU HAVE TO SHARE??

The Bottom Line You must be careful with your surrounding in every place you go!
I love to share things with others normally especially with my now 11 year old niece. However she really didn't have to share her friends with me! Mariah is my twin sisters daughter. She loves to spend the night with me her aunt Te Te. Since she was a young girl she has never liked to sleep alone.
So one weekend she decided to spend the night as she normally did. We prepared for bed and all was well until I woke up in the middle of the night to use the restroom (that's probably more than you wanted to know huh...lol).
My head was itching in which I thought nothing of because sometimes it itches from using to much hair spray or having a dry scalp. Not knowing what I was in for I scratched my head and under my finger nails were.......you guessed it.....lice!!!
Oh did I ever panic I was so upset. I called my mom and told her what had happened and she asked if Mariah was over. I told her she was and then we needed to check her. This was evidently her departing elementary gift that the other school children thought they would share with her. I love her to death but that was one present she did not need to share with me.
I must tell you that I panic over bugs especially if they are crawling on me or near me! The first thing that went through my mind was that I was going to have to shave all my hair off and wear a wig. Those around me know that i think hair makes a person so this to me was a heart wrenching thought. But I could not bare the fact that something live was crawling in my hair. So I felt I might not have a choice.
Needless to say I did not rest well the rest of the night. As soon as the stores where open I went to find me something to get rid of these creatures. I tried some over the counter lice shampoo. That did not really work. I then got a Robi comb that buzzed as you combed your hair but if the teeth got clogged with something it would stop buzzing so every time a lice would get in between the teeth it would stop. This is a wonderful comb to get. I know that its a bit expensive I think I paid close to $40.00 on it but it was well worth every penny!
I went to my mothers home so she could assist me in getting these bugs out. I have never washed my hair so many times in such a very short period of time. I made sure to do everything on their back yard patio to avoid any further infestation. Between the comb and a home remedy was all it took to do the job.
The remedy is to completely cover your head with REAL mayonise and then cover it with a plastic bag and tie it shut. This will smoother them and it really does work! I don't know how long it takes to do the trick but I wasn't taking any chances!
I left mine on the whole evening and all the next day. When I did remove the plastic you could tell it worked there were lots of dead bugs. Lice can multiply so fast so if you don't get on the ball right away you can easily be infested.
Not only do you have to take care of your hair. You must also wash all bedding and linens because they can nest in them. I was so cautious and in such a panic I even washed lots of my clothes that were clean hanging in the closet in the front because I did not want to take any chances.
Plus you MUST put all pillows, stuffed animals and things like that in plastic bags and close them tight to smother them. I believe you have to only do that for 2-3 days but as much of a worry wart as I am I had to live all my pillows and such for a couple weeks. Just to make sure!
I know that it is not a shame to get them however it is a shame to keep them. And I was wasting no time. The fact is that you can pick lice up in places you wouldn't think of. Most of us think of lower class people and or under privaledged children but thats where you are wrong.
Did you know that you can get them from Church? Yes you most certainly can. If someone that has lice such as a youngster if he/she rests his head on the back of the bench then they can nest in the fabric and become infested therefore putting those who may sit there the next time in jeopardy of getting them.
Have you ever thought of these things? How about when you try on clothes? Hats? Anything that has ability for things to nest in them. Ok now I'm making myself panic again! But its so true we must be careful how we behave around things we don't own and don't know who else has come into contact with them. Because you never know what may be lurking around!
