Nothing much has changed in the years since you wrote this guide. I do basically the same steps when I major-detail twice a year.
I have, however, discovered THE BEST window cleaner on the planet. It is called Prima Clarity. You should purchase it in the Prima Glass Bundle which includes a microfiber cleaning cloth. Clarity is amazing. I have never used a product that requires so little effort & produces such amazing results. I swear after you use it you will look through your windshield in amazement because it has never been so crystal clear. I am glad they sell Clarity by the gallon because I can't imagine using anything else on my car or in my house.

Hi RF-Man,
I'm 20 and just bought my first car. A 2002 Cavalier Sport Sedan in Jet Black and am always outside taking care of the thing. I found your article really helpful and I appreciate the effort that must've gone into it. Now if you can only tell me how to get rid of those blasted swirl marks-Chad
